  • P4P is a DEEPLY silly concept...

... seriously, it's a nice bit of fun, but the way some jokers on here take it so seriously, as if it's something earnt in the ring (when most of the top P4P fighters haven't even fought each other, and certainly not in the concept of the rankings, eg. Winky can put on weight but he's not the same size as Taylor or Hopkins).

Discussion of a hypothetical, abstract concept is all well and good, but it seems like one out of every five threads on here is about it nowadays, to the detriment of the sport.

Someone had it right on here the other day - they had their £for£ list (or $for$), for the most value for money boxers. That's all that really counts.

It's utterly ****ing ridiculous to be praising boxers for being "P4P greats", when really the whole thing doesn't mean ANYTHING, is a realistically unquantifiable notion and has very little relation to what actually happens in a boxing ring.

If you're reading this, and thinking that P4P IS important, and that I'm wrong, then you're a gay. Sorry, but that's just the way it is. Diego****o, don't bother to reply, you bore me.

P4p means something, if what you have as your p4p is a coward and a duck.

    Like a fake Floyd.

Coz in that instance, something is terribly wrong w you.

      I completely agree, Annie.

By the way.... you do realize that 90% of NSB won't even understand what you typed, right?

            Calzaghe has a good resume.

            Fake FLoyd doesn't.

            SO there's no comparison.

I wouldnt call it a silly concept, if it was ring magazine and other organisations wouldnt lend such credence to it, it is mythical because it cannot be physically proven, but nevertheless p4p is and always has been another way of saying 'who is the best fighter in the world'

The FIFA World football player of the year, is that a deeply silly concept? because it cannot be conclusively proven that KAKA (who is almost certain to win it this year) is the best football player in the world, how would you go about proving it? you cant, its mythical also.

Because something cant be totally proven it doesnt mean its silly, especially when many fighters themselves take it very seriously and want to be on that that list, for some fighters, its probably more important than winning an alphabet belt.

Like many awards and ranking, p4p is subjective, that doesnt make it invaluble, it just makes it inconclusive.

wat sets the fifa world player of the year awad away from p4p is that kaka wont be going around all year saying hes the best in the world , world player baby and all that ****. the winner of this award cant use it to hes advantage in negociating a new contract etc

Are you serious, i dont think you know too much about transfer negotiations then, because real madrid have offered kaka something like 8 million a year to join them, he will stay at milan though.

The point is there is little difference if any, both are highly valuble awards yet the results cannot be physcially proven.

Especially when u look into how the world player of the year is voted and decided, which i wont dicuss this minute.

it matters a lot or the fans, the press, the scholars, really dont have anything to talk or fight/argue ... lol

how can it be a detriment to the sport??? when it a surefire discussion starter, and why limit our discussion on quantifiable reality? where is the fun in that?
