I would like to see some proof of this. Floyd was with Top Rank then and you never even heard Marg's name mentioned in the same breath as Floyd. Marg was virtually unknown in 2006 (other than his delusional fans) let alone 2005 so there is no way in hell he or Arum could offer that kind of money then. Get your facts right.
actually Margarito was calling him out and Arum was offering 8 mil. and this is lng before the Baldomire fight.

Nobody else at 147 can command more than $8 million or anywhere close to it for that matter. Floyd ducked Margarito to fight the linear champ then Oscar De La Hoya? I know you want to talk your boy up, but don't ignore common sense.

He was getting beat by Clotty before that stoppage. Clottey would probably be a tough fight for just about anyone though.

People always bring up Clottey hurting his hand, but Margarito hurt his hand too.

A lot of people do under rate him but you have to accept him for what he is, he's a very tough powerful guy with an amazing work rate but little speed and boxing ability. That being said he still has a better shot in the fight than williams in the fight who is similar but untested. I'm a big fan of his but I know he has his liabilities, especially in speed and defense, but he is still easily one of the best welterweights along with Cotto, but that will become self evident. along with the fact that clottey could be a title holder if he got a shot at any of the belts, he's just a very difficult fighter to figure out.

He's exciting, he slugs, and he can beat a lot of guys at welterweight, he's not the bum people on here make him out to be.

he ducked margarito to fight mitchell then judah then baldomir then de la hoya. get your facts straight. margarito was ducked for a year at least by mayweather. you don't think margarito was more deserving of a fight than mitchell or judah? he is a better fighter than both of them and would have brought 8 million reasons for mayweather to fight him.

Maybe because he's so slow that you could fall asleep while dodging his punches. Seriously, I've never seen such a slow fighter being hyped up so much. Well, maybe Valuev, but even that would be pushing it...

Floyd fought Mitchell to get ready for a slick southpaw in Judah (who was the undisputed champ at the time). He beats Mitchell only to see Judah lose. So he fights Judah, because he's still a big threat and (I believe) the contract was already signed. Plus, it was more than anyone else could offer (Margarito fight had not been offered). After that was the first time anyone heard about Arum wanting him to fight margarito. The $8 million was offered, Baldomir's people matched it and that is how things went down. Perhaps, you should wake up and get your facts straight.
