Sugar Ray Robinson had far more tough battles than Castillo and yet was still amazing in his 40's. If you include Hatton's amateur fights, he and Castillo have been in about the same number of fights. Many boxers have had more than 100 amateur fights, some have had over 200.

    Castillo age 33
    De La Hoya age 35
    Tarver age 38
    Hopkins age 42
    Duran retired at age 50
its not entirely about age but sometimes its a factor. it has to do with how much you have put your body through. i think castillo is a great fighter and a true warrior but he has been fighting professionally in mexico since he was 16. he has fought some great fighters and taken a lot of punishment for our entertainment. guys like tarver and hopkins never fight wars. thats why they can still fight at a high level at a later age but i would say tarver and hopkins are past there prime too.

also smaller fighters usually burn out faster than bigger wons. heavyweights usually mature in there early to mid 30s while this is usually the age where smaller fighters are ending there careers.

There's no way we can compare Roy to Floyd. Simply because if you look at punchstat numbers and watch their respective fights......Roy never got hit as clean as Floyd until he was clocked with a LUCKY PUNCH from a LESSER FIGHTER when he was washed up, and weight drained. Let's also not forget Roy thoroughly outclassed Tarver in their first fight.

Also I'm not going to forget that Castillo worked Floyd over in the first fight simply because you can see a "L" on his record when you look at the names.
I already to put the bet on my sig, are you gonna be a man about it, or are you gonna be wuss like DLH and not show up to fight?haha

Why do I have to put that in my signature?

I have other bets as well and don't feel like adding them in my sig when I can just as easily refer to the initial post where I agreed to the bet.

And what's this "not showing up" thing. Of course I'll "show up" goddamit.

See, you're already starting w/ the excuses. It's simple, put it in your sig. Quit listenin' to DLH, you end up learning nothing but excuses from that guy.

If Hatton wins, my excuse will be that Hatton held way too ****ing much and that Cortez is a ****.

If this fight is good to great, Castillo won. If it's irritating and arm-barry, Hatton won.

                There, is that good enough?

or do you want me to hire a lawyer and write out some lengthy clause, and then cut and paste that and put it in my sig? Christ Almighty man.

I don't like this topic. I see smack talk from fans of other fighters all the time and it disappoints me when someone who is a fan of "my" fighter does it too. I don't want to be tarred with that brush.

Roberto Duran was a lightweight for much of his career - he fought many battles against stronger punchers than Castillo's ever faced...

If Hatton wins tonight it will be because he's a world class fighter...but some people just cannot accept that fact for some reason and will say anything they can to prove it isn't true! But men with a strong sense of sportsmanship and fair play will give Hatton credit if he wins, for defeating a tough opponent who's rated as the #1 Ring Magazine light welterweight!

duran is an exception. most fighters who go through as many wars as castillo are past their prime by 30. did you see castillo fight reyes and ngodjo? he did not look like the same fighter.
