The jab was being called by Roache...but anybody can say that. Not like its the Colonel's Secret Recipe for a win.
Roaches pre-fight game plan wasnt realistic...thats all.
there was nothing complicated about Roach's pre-fight gameplan. Mayweather defends by mostly using upper body movement. Roach's pre-fight plan made sense, which was time Floyd Jr's body as it was going down and shoot the uppercut. Floyd just did a great job of evading the punches.
There's a pre-fight gameplan that Roach had, but, Roach also had a real-time gameplan, which was getting busy w/ the jab. AND DLH didn't follow. You can't measure a gameplan's success by how sophisticated it is or how simple it is. It's all about the execution, and DLH like always, could not execute when he was in front of a high caliber fighter that Floyd is!!
The blame is not on ROACH, it's DLH. Just like you said McNulty, "anyone can instruct someone to jab" well DLH simply didn't do it. DLH himself admitted that he didn't work the jab enough, which would've been the key to victory.

I some-what disagree...
"Mayweather defends by mostly using upper body movement"
Roache should have known that PBF's gaurd is tight so body punches from the side wont land and will be ineffective. You need to throw straight body shots to hit PBF. So that left double uppercut to the bod is part of a bad gameplan. What PBF did to Zab w/the straight right to his bod worked and DLH should have done similiar...those shots would have put him out of harms way of PBF's hook as well.
Yes DLH did lose the fight in the end....its not a tag-team event. The corner does play a big role and Roaches formula didnt work. He wasnt effective in relaying how serious it was for Oscar to use the jab. Ok he said it...well fackin yell it! He was like that black girl cop from Police Academy giving instructions all quite and ****.

Roach's formula was to use the friggin' jab, not the other **** you are trying to put out there. Zab had success w/ his money maker, the laser left straight, DLH does not have a laser left straight, DLH is not a southpaw, don't you find it funny that alot of southpaws make their $$$ w/ the left hand down the pipe, ie PACMAN, Whitaker, Tarver, Hagler. The lefties will always find their mark w/ their killer straight left, no matter who is in front of them. In fact, Mayweather is actually darn great at evading, well, pretty much everything. But, again, it ain't Roach. Roach gave the proper instruction(s), which was a simple, measly JAB and the rest will follow.
You keep stressin' the straight right of DLH's would've been more effective than the other power punches, but, even if he would've used the straight right against Mayweather, it would not have been effective because DLH was not working behind the jab. THE JAB, GET IT, THE FRIGGIN' JAB MAN!! AND ROACH KEPT SAYING IT, DLH would stare him in the eye while Roach was saying JAB, JAB, SON

.
Um, I think you can.
If you have a fighter who is KNOWN to fatigue, and he is fighting the Energizer Bunny, you have to give your fighter a SIMPLE, low-output plan that leaves him with something in the tank for the late rounds.
They TRIED to pressure PBF by following him around the ring. But ODLH doesn't know how to cut off a ring. He never changed his pace. He didn't feint. He had no lateral movement. And in the rare instances that Oscar got Floyd against the ropes, Oscar wasted alot of energy throwing useless punches. Like that flurry of left hooks to Floyd's waistpad that PBF was laughing to himself about.
It was clear by round 3 or 4 that Oscar was NOT going to KO PBF. Floyd is extremely hard to hit, and his chin is way good enough to absorb a single shot. And Oscar has never been that one-punch KO artist, anyway.
Additionally, when guys get tired they tend to revert to their bad habits. They circle the wrong way, they drop their hands, etc. So giving somebody a sophisticated gameplan? That gameplan goes out the window once fatigue starts to set in. In Oscar's case, he was stiff-legged and not letting his hands go. Just following PBF around and getting pot-shotted.
Do you remember when Floyd went back to his corner after a few bad rounds with Zab? All Roger had to tell him was "stick to the plan. Walk forward. Give him pressure". That was clear, simple, and executable. And effective.
Roach's formula was to use the friggin' jab, not the other **** you are trying to put out there.

I keep stressin the straight right to the BODY!!! Wake up and get the liquid DNA off yer eyes.
If your trying to tell me Roaches whole plan was to use the jab your high on meth. Roache is one of the top trainers in the game...for his sole gameplan to be the jab is insane.

You ever box for real kid? Ever train anyone?
What did Roach say before he would spit out the words 2 uppercuts to the body?? what huh, what?? The friggin' JAB. No, I did not say or imply that Roach's sole gameplan was the jab, but, everything revolved around the jab and that's why you kept hearing Roach saying it throughout the fight to jab and FOLLOW it up w/ the power punches. The jab was not the sole plan, but it was the key to everything else. I mean, the gameplan when facing a slickster such as Floyd Sr. is to beat the body and the head will follow, in order to do that, the jab will have to be utilized in various ways, it can't be like RJJ leading w/ power punches.
Are you just jokin' or in the middle of a crack session when you claim to have boxed(lol)??
I think if Oscar really wants to go out on a positive note, he should wait for Cotto to annihilate his next opponent, let Cotto beat Sugar Shane, and then step up and challenge Cotto. That would be a HUGE fight and it's a very dangerous, young, and respectable opponent. I think Oscar can win that fight. He can't beat the slick boxers, so he should just stick with the guys that have no special effects like Cotto. Only thing is he's like a zombie....you can't stop him from coming!
