It appears that Floyd Mayweather, Sr. will not be training Oscar De La Hoya when he returns. It was reported in the Long Beach Press-Telegram that De La Hoya will once again retain the services of Freddie Roach, who trained him for the May 5 bout with Floyd Mayweather, Jr. [details]

It's not like you threw as many punches as you said you would Oscar. It's not like you took any risks in the fight either. Shut Up Oscar you had your chance, but you'll die wondering just like you did against Hopkins and the rest of the fighters you let beat you. "What if...... -
i guess it is a good move new trainer add new elements imo
who had the bigger punch output in the fight??? it seemed close to meComment

I'm sick and tired of DLH continously running his mouth of how the smaller man in Floyd Jr. did not stand toe to toe against him. What he accuses of Floyd doing is nowhere near as disgusting as what he did against Tito and Mosley rematch, oh and that acting job he put on against Hopkins. I can't wait till DLH leaves for good. DLH is about as irritating as Bill Clinton was!!Comment

Shut up, Oscar
Oscar chose the smallest possible ring and STILL didn't know how to cut it off. If you ask me, Roach didn't teach Oscar anything new. It's not like you threw as many punches as you said you would Oscar. It's not like you took any risks in the fight either. who cares
If Oscar is the man he says he is he would fight floyd again. But he knows he can't beat him. Floyd threw a 100 less punches and landed 100 more. Also landed 51% of his power shots. No matter how much you hate it was easy work all night long. Oscar don't want that again.Comment

Roache is the wrong trainer for DLH and a little late in the game.
In 24/7 he was doing pads w/DLH w/some head shot and two left uppercuts to the body, then pivot on 'floyds' left. If you watch the fight DLH trys this in the 1st few rounds. To no avail...Roache wouldnt know that PBF wouldnt be there for DLH to even get the body shots off...never mind the pivot?
He should go w/Steward.Last edited by McNulty; 06-23-2007, 12:21 PM.Comment

Steward pssst....... Roach's instruction was simple, use the JAB, son!(like someone already posted). It doesn't take a Manny Steward, Floyd Sr., and the long list of coaches that DLH has had in his entire career to come up w/ that kind of a gameplan. Forget about the pivots and uppercuts to the body. The key to the fight and Roach instructed him throughout the fight to friggin' JAB.Roache is the wrong trainer for DLH and a little late in the game.

The only thing I can knock Roach on, is maybe he should've worked the corner like Teddy Atlas did w/ Moorer, when Teddy had a cellphone and threatened Michael of contacting Moorer's kid or something to that effect. Y'all remember that(lmao)Last edited by We want Floyd; 06-23-2007, 12:32 PM.Comment
