    Everyone liked Gatti Ward but...

Don't you see these guys will never be the same after a beating like that? Remember guts and blood will have you killed. for instance i doubt Castillo can endure Hatton's attack after the 6th round. Not because he's old, because he's weary... Besides that there is also alot of permanent micro brain lesions caused by the brutal pound and pound style. No fan should pay to see their favorite fighter get beaten. If someone doesn't have speed or skill very well, they pretty much have no choice but i hate to see skilled fighters getting beaten just because it's their trademark style.

1, Don't you see these guys will never be the same after a beating like that? - True - see also Castillo - Corrales.

2, I doubt Castillo can endure Hatton's attack after the 6th round - if he can withstand Corrales attack until the 10th (first fight), he can withstand Hatton's. Remember also he's been in the ring with Mayweather twice, and some would say he beat Mayweather in the first fight.

3, No fan should pay to see their favorite fighter get beaten - true, but we do, and no-one has a gun to a boxer's head saying 'get in the ring and get beaten up' boxers just do it.

4, If someone doesn't have speed or skill very well, they pretty much have no choice but i hate to see skilled fighters getting beaten just because it's their trademark style - good post, but I disagree with this. You have to argue Corrales had a certain trademark style (read: warrior); and he'd have gotten up regardless of the beatings he took. Your last point wasn't that clear, maybe I'm missing the mark.

    Props

Nobody forced them to pick boxing as a sport. Some boxers are sluggers and others use skills. I rather see a skillful fight than a all out slugfest most of the time.

Fans pay to see their favorite fighters fight. They don't know before hand if it'll be a brutal 2-way war or a one-way beating or whatever, but you pay to see a fight and the unpredictability makes it more entertaining.

I don't think ward and gatti looking back now will have many regrets from those wars. It's part of their legacy.

If you had a son that was boxing, would you prefer him to fight like Gatti or Winky Wright?

Not sure, Gatti will regret not quiting earlier. He suffered some serious brain dammage and he will face the consequences.

We can allready see a clear difference, his speeches are much more different than 10 years ago. Now, he always seem drunk and confused.
