I agree with this. I am not sure who Oscar would actually be fighting at this point. I think he should stick to promoting because as aggressive as Cotto is, Oscar would not be able to handle it IMO, without completly draining mid way.

Oscar loves his fans and knows what his fans wants. He really wants to go toe to toe for the love of the sport. Imo I don't think he can do so much aggressively. The fight would have to go on HIS pace/tempo imo.

I would go with oscar in that fight, i doubt cotto fights at the same pace as mayweather, oscar showed he's not done completely done yet, he still slick, skilled and got quick hands, if cotto moved up to 154 (DLH cant make 147 i dont think) or if they fought at a catch weight, i think De La Hoya would be the favorite although i wouldnt be suprised if cotto won.

I DO think Oscar loves his fans, but I do not think they dictate his decisions anymore. He is at a point where he is solidified and really, business is first at this point. I feel Oscar is somewhat older, a little more languid and not a fluid anymore. Not as agile.

I do not think he needs to get in the ring with anyone as youthful and up and coming as Miguel. I mean, Cotto needs a lot of work and improvement IMO, but he is a force to be rekon with. That is for sure and with Oscar seeming a little tired, I do not think that fight or any other would be wise.
I can not think of a fight I'd want to see him in at this point. I think he and Floyd may fight again but only because there is more money in the fight. As boring as it would probably be, everyone would watch it.

Now, there are fighters I would like to see Floyd face. He's still in his prime and eve though Oscar is only 34, the years do make a difference. I don't think he's over the hill but no way is DLH at 34 nearly as good as DLH at 29. Just can not think of anyone I'd want to see Oscar take on is all.

De La Hoya put his left hook in his pocket against Mayweather (for good reason!), but against Cotto he'd land it all night.

Of course Mayweather is beatable. He was one round on one score card from drawing Oscar. But who can beat him right now? That's a problem. Because Oscar is still one of the best

I can agree with that, Tech. I don't think Oscar is as fluid. I think Cotto would need a lot besides a change in weight to get with DLH. I do think that he could win though.

I hate any sports athlete that is just in it for the money and thats all floyd is, in it for the money, yeah Id want to be in it for the bucks a little, but I wouldnt turn down a fight just cause he doesnt think the fighter is in his league, if he could easily beat those guys he says he can why not go do it and shut everyones mouth, if he were to do that , then I could respect him a little
I agree with you, I hate golddiggers as well. If you want to call yourself the best fighter in the world, there's only one thing to do; Beat everyone else.

When it comes to ring generalship and Floyd; he seems to be quite comfortable on the ropes, countering ala Toney from all angles there.
If that's the place he likes to be, can we then call it lack of ring generalship from his side, and if so, why?

Counter-punchers like to use the force of the opponent against them, so it is only logical to move backwards to lure opponents into a trap and counter. Do you agree?
Then will you call that running, or will that count as boxing in your eyes?
What DLH did against Trinidad in the last 4 was running like a *****, no question about it.
Mayweather doesn't run with his legs as much IMO, so are you more frustrated by his reluctance to exchange and engage, more so than his actual defencive techniques? If so, I can understand you.

I just don't agree that he is what you label as a runner...

                  ???

Oscar-Cotto doesn't interest you? Oscar-Winky, if he beats Hopkins? Yeah, Winky isn't the most exciting fighter, but he stands right in front of you and has shown in fights against Taylor and Quartey that he will take the lead and throw alot more punches of late. Both those fights are potentially great fights IMO. The atmosphere of a DLH-Cotto fight would be absolutely insane. They would sell out Staples in 5 minutes and the place would be raucous.

I agree and disagree here, Ive seen a number of floyd fights where he runs with his legs, even if he gameplan were to lure them in by going back towards the ropes, if he would use more punches and use the jab more I could learn to respect him, but to me he doesnt. My idea of a good fighter is one that isnt afraid to mix it up with punches, but floyd has a look of fear in his face alot of the times when hes getting pressured. If Floyd fought like Roy jones Jr that kind of running I can get behind. and floyds mouth doesnt help situations either, he says he is the best, but to be the best you have to beat the best, and he hasnt even begun to scratch that surface
