Buddy McGirt quote on Wladimir Klitschko

Buddy McGirt is Lamon Brewster's trainer, which will make for an interesting corner face off with Emmanuel Steward being in Wladimir Klitschko's corner July 7.

I asked Buddy today about whether he thought Wladimir had improved since the last time they fought. His response:

    Thoughts?

        i agree 100%

Ive been sayin all along that Peter knocks Klitschko out if they fight again.

Peter HAS gotten better, Klitschko clearly hasn't.

The only thing different about Klitschko is how he carries himself in the ring. He is clearly a lot more confident.

But if im remember correctly, Klitschko was beating up on Brewster before the knockout, and he has more experience now so i think he'll hold onto that lead

And you expected Lamon Brewster's trainer to give you an honest answer to a question like this about a fighter he'll be going up against soon? This is one of those times when the old saying "There's no such thing as a ****** question" is utter bull****. I can't believe you wasted oxygen on a question like that. You should've asked something like "What's Brewster's weight going to be coming into the fight?" or maybe even "Do you want to make a prediction on what round the fight will end?". But whether the opponent his fighter is about to face has improved or not? Christ, that's like asking Saddam Hussein, live on Iraqi TV, if he thought the US would be a little bit of trouble for his troops in the upcoming invasion. Hmmm, let's see...should I tell the truth and blow the morale of my troops out of the universe, or should I lie my ass off and hope at least a few don't turn into deserters....tough question, that.

I'm just teasing you (mostly), but you have to admit, that really was a silly question to ask Buddy before the fight. Ask him afterwards and you'll probably get a more honest opinion.

I have a few tricks up my sleeve, one is the ability to read my subject when he's talking. Buddy is a guy I've spoken to on many occassions and knows what he's talking about. I do believe he feels his assessment is accurate, if it's true is another issue.

I saw Lamon in camp a couple days ago, I know what he weighs.

I recall Ray Austin and his trainer had even worse to say about Wlad, and look what happened. I would like to have Buddy interviewed right after the July 7 fight, but I bet he'll disappear like Austin, his trainer and King did!

That being said, McGirt is an excellent trainer, and he'll bring out the best in Brewster for certain. But it probably won't be enough to defeat Wlad.

                Meh, garbage.

And hey, how did Buddy's fighters do in a ring recently, again?

Last Saturday, Malignaggi fought like someone who's been working with an excellent trainer.

It's hard to tell whether peter has improved, he beat a chubby 5 ft 9" heavyweight.
