Welcome Michael to the team. I am very excited to be a part of a site with great writers like Katz, Borges, Tim Smith, Dave Greisman, the talent pool is just overflowing.

Is this the same Michael Katz who called Oscar De La hoya ; Chicken De La Hoya. If so what would he call Mayweather? It's ok to have favorites and dislike fighters but calling someone chicken when it is obviusly not true is slander.

One and the same. He created the whole "chicken" de la hoya nickname. It's not slander, it's an opinion. And, at the time it was true, De La Hoya was unwilling to fight anyone other than an old Chavez. After there were many who saw Oscar losing to bothe Whitaker and Quartey, De La Hoya avoids rematches with both to fight Chavez a second time because he felt Chavez "did not show him enough respect after the first fight"

So he gets no credit for fighting Whitaker and Quartey ? He easily could of fought fringe contenders and gone undeafeated for the rest of his career. At the same time of the Whitaker and Quartey fights their was a fighter named Trinidad who did not fight those guys , so does that make him chichen x2 for not even fighting them at that time. De La Hoya fought Chavez again because the 1st was inconclusive because of the cuts and he fought Chavez toe to toe in the second to prove who was more of a man. He made Chavez quit and De la Hoya did not run in that fight but He is called chicken by a guy in a neckbrace?

How did ODLH avoid a rematch with Quartey to fight Chavez when the Quartey fight was in 99 and the Chavez was in 98?

The point is, the Chavez rematch was pointless. He killed Chavez the first time in four rounds. He could have easily given rematches with both Whitaker and Quartey. Arum said he was forced to fight him tooth and nail to even take the Quartey fight in the first place. Now he calls for a Trinidad rematch, almost ten years later. Trinidad was right, why do it now, it should have been done then.

He gets credit for fighting them. Whitaker was also past his prime and he tought Quartey was done for after he was dropped twice against Lopez and came out with a draw. What about Felix Sturm? Where was his rematch? Also, he beat up an old man in Chavez in both fights. Oscar was a much bigger and stronger fighter than Chavez. Chavez had already three losses on his record by the time they fought, if you want to include the Whitaker draw as a loss.
