How can you say he would've beat Clottey would've been easy for Marg when the only reason he won is cuz Clottey got hurt? The only thing you can take away from that fight is that a one-handed Margarito beat a no-handed Clottey. Marg was getting beat with solid defense and short punches before Clottey injured his hands. Whether he was hurt or not, he was getting exposed as being a wide, slow puncher with little defense.
when cotto finally faces margarito he will be facing a true welterweight who has been dominating the division before cotto ever fought a pro fight. margarito will walk him down and show cotto what true welterweight power feels like. i hope margarito gets some respect from all the haters after ending cottos career.

the REAL answer is Sharmba Mitchell...is the best WIlliams has faced even after Margarito.

Margys fought nobody and got a measly WBO. Sharmba has fought big names...the biggest...and held major belts...IBF, NABF, WBC, WBA.

Sharmba has almost as many KO's as Margy has wins...haha.
Come on now! Mitchell is a joke, he was a OK at 140 a few years ago but he aint nothing at 47.

LOL He'll get my respect if he does. Cotto will be the first elite fighter he fights and most likely the last cuz I don't see Marg having a snowflakes chance in hell of beating him. Its too bad we have to wait so long for the fight to happen, but Williams may end up beating Marg anyways and spoiling the whole thing.

I picked Williams because I expect him to give Margy the fight of his life.....but if he does'nt than Clottey would be his toughest opponent.....and he would have lost had Clottey not hurt his hand.

These posts are funny. Sharmba was no bum; he was a faded, but once very good, fighter. Williams may be the best Margarito has faced but we won't know that even after the fight (if Williams wins). If down the road Steward continued to develop Cintron and Cintron one day beat Williams, we might see it differently. Personally, I think Antonio Diaz, Andrew Lewis and Cintron were all better/equal to Williams, credential wise, when they faced Marg.

Margarito is currently in the same spot guys like Winky and McCallum used to be in: it's undeniable that all are/were good, but they needed those wins that shut up everyone. If (and I think when) Marg beats Williams, he gets Cotto. Win both and all that will be left is to read Floyd fanatics say Cotto was exposed and Floyd would beat Marg so why should he fight him...ad infinitum.

I think Williams proved he is one of the best at welterweight and a nightmare of a match up for anyone. He will be the new fighter everyone ducks...
