    John:
Great take, and I always appreciate the fighters perspective on this, but the fact is that Dirrell fights like this often and has gotten worse since the Ochoa fight. Whether or not one can rationalize what they saw has no bearing on one simple fact: fans pay the bills and that was mierde to watch. If he keeps winning, and since he's with Haymon, Dirrell will get another chance to make an impression but people who pay for their tickets shouldn't have to rationalize a ****ty viewing experience.

John, the commentators were very unfair to him too.

When a top dog like Bernard Hopkins does it, it's okay.

That's because the top dogs have built up some good will...and they don't even get away with it much. Merchant has excorciated Hopkins and Mayweather over the last few years for turing in dull nights that were less dull than Dirrell running like he was frightened of counters.

Im shocked that you of all people are complaining about good but boring performances with the creme de la creme of all that is boring in your avatar. The spurs are probably the most boring team ever to win a championship.

4 championships and the oldest team in the NBA. Ask me if I give a ****. I dare ya. And there is more then 1 person playing in the NBA,not just Duncan. As there is only 1 person on the team that is fighting in the ring.

Like I say, it is a dilemma a lot of skilled boxers face. And here's one thing that in all this....nobody, not one person, would ever dare to say Stevens won the fight. He tried to fight and trap the guy but he didnt come close to doing it. It doesn't appeal to people but the fact of the matter is.... if Andre fought Jermain Taylor like that and executed the same plan and it worked....he would win the decision. You have to hit the man solidly more than he hits you to win and if Andre chooses that style and gets more experience and is in even better shape, etc..... it is gonna take an aggressive but focused man to beat him.

That's being said, I'd suggest that no one watches this kid fight again. I can't imagine anyone being excited by the way he fought last night...unless they were related to him.

Last night we got to see the difference between a MAN who understands every facet of the game in Malignaggi, and a boy who knows what works for him but doesn't see the big picture.

Dirrel is in the sport to make money to support himself and his family. The way to do that is obviously by giving the crowd what they want to some degree, which in turn gets you a strong supportive fan base. He ain't looking to good in that area with that bull**** showing.

If he intends on doing that every fight for the rest of his career then I hope he retires undefeated against the Curtis Stevens of the world, but I also hope he never highlights an ESPN, HBO, or Showtime card otherwise.

There are more than a few fighters who could have executed the gameplan Dirrel employed last night. I think Oscar De La Hoya could have done that in his early career, I think Paul Malignaggi could have done that to N'Dou last night.

That performance was just sad though.
this was a text book floyd mayweatheresque performance, big on ring smarts short on excitement. as Lewis said once Dirrell gains some confidence he will settle down.He will let his hands go more and his feet go less and he will be force to reckon with.

I really do agree. I am not sure about his chin but it was very obvious to me that Dirrel showed flashes of very, very good skills the other night.

more than 1 person? what does that mean. All thats saying is that since its one guy doing it its easy to pick on him rather than an entire team. Bottom line is if you have a problem with the way dirrell fights then I have a problem with the way the spurs play basketball.
