Online feeds aren't anything pretty. I don't know about some of you but the quality is far from watching it on a big screen tv. Hell, to keep the quality decent on sopcast you have to watch it at the smallest screen setting. If someone watches the fight blurry as hell on fullscreen off sopcast I'd be surprised. And I'm one of those fans that wouldn't pay for it even if I couldn't see it online for free. 50 bucks for something that should be on regular hbo and showtime.
is the internet destroying boxing?

The internet does not affect any sport adversely, it enhances it. There are several things destroying boxing, but the only one I'm going to cite now, is the proliferation of matches with opposite stances.
Pitting an orthodox stance versus a southpaw makes for an extremely awkward and dull fight. It's like dancing with two left feet. The fighters keep tripping over each other's toes and have no reach to deliver the far hand.Last edited by Panamaniac; 06-17-2007, 03:49 PM.Comment

I agree with Canada on this one, I think the internet has helped the sport because now we have 24/7 boxing news from websites like boxingscene and fans can watch fights on youtube.Comment

i'm not sure with the figures of ppv etc... but are more people less drawn to actually watching the matches live? it seems that with websites hosting fights, the fan base is turning into online sources rather than real life. is this a factor that will eventually cause tv broadcasters to lose their interest in investing in the sport?
i've pretty much seen the last 3 or 4 big fights on line! maybe 5 years ago it wasn't the case so perhaps in another 5 the sport would die out on tv. who knows.
It would seem to me.. That the Internet has been the BEST thing to happen to boxing of late.. The internet is giving BOXING back to the Fans..Comment

I watched the fight fullscreen it was actually pretty good quality but like you said the smallest screen setting was the best.Online feeds aren't anything pretty. Fans were robbed of that fight that was suppose to bring boxing back when they were looking for a knockout and a slugfest.Comment
