    is the internet destroying boxing?

i'm not sure with the figures of ppv etc... but are more people less drawn to actually watching the matches live? it seems that with websites hosting fights, the fan base is turning into online sources rather than real life. is this a factor that will eventually cause tv broadcasters to lose their interest in investing in the sport?

i've pretty much seen the last 3 or 4 big fights on line! maybe 5 years ago it wasn't the case so perhaps in another 5 the sport would die out on tv. who knows.

The fun of boxing went a long time ago.

    Times have moved on.

The internet is good for boxing. Since the mainstream media largely ignores my favorite sport, it's the only way I can follow it closely. Sites like this one help keep boxing alive.

shady promoters, shady judging and officiating, over priced ppv's, boxers not willing to make fights pricing themselves too high or not fighting because of location is killing boxing, nothing else is destroying boxing other than those factors.....................................

Other than possibly affecting the live gate receipts, I don't see how the internet is destroying boxing as a sport. If anything, it makes boxing available through at extra medium, thereby generating even more fan interest.

the internet is keeping my love for the sport alive. with sites like this to keep me updated and to read and voice my oppinions on aspects of the sport. also with the lack of major fights been screened live over here the internet gives me the chance to download the fight the day after its taken place so i can watch most fights i like

To be honest, Taking some of the money outta the game will be better for boxing, As the only ones who will be boxing are the ones that love the sport not just for the money but for hunger to be the best. I think also they could do with getting rid of a few of the Micky Mouse belts, There a far to many.
Secondly: Fights like Cotto Vs Zab And Hatton Vs Castillo are the fights that we like to watch fighters with heart..Not Damn Gayweather fights, I honestly thought that Taylor would be calling for Joe but hes talks about money to much..I would have loved to see that fight..

I personally don't like PPV, I find it to be a bull**** and shady move. ****, hbo and showtime should be enough. They pay the fighters good enough for it to be on the regular paid channels. The big boxers in the buisness like taylor, and all of them are getting paid like 4-5 million dollars for it to be on regular hbo. Jesus, thats alot to me. But then we have our Oscar and Floyd greedy asses and they'll want to fight on ppv for like 20 mil. The **** they think they are? Actors? They sure fought like actors that night. And with the performances Taylors been putting in the ring lately, he's as bad as floyd and oscars last showing.

Well in some cases it can hurt the real big hyped fights like Oscar and Floyd.

I watched that **** online for free but they still did great on ppv sales due to rediculous prices as well as many people don't know how to acess online feeds.
