My point is mixed martial arts is more about fighting than the money, whereas boxing is more about the money than fighting.
Money is a factor at the top levels of boxing. Below that level it simply isn't. Grass-roots boxing is about the sport. At the top levels boxing becomes a little bit money oriented. Just like MMA once you reach the UFC level of popularity.

I don't think they have 2 different demographics. I just think tha MMA appeals to more commercial fans beacuse it's been marketed much better that boxing and has a "newness" factor that intrigues people. Most people have never seen an MMA fight so when they see it on tv they tune in out of curiousity. Whereas, most people have seen a boxing match on tv a million times so unless there is a big name in the ring they won't bother to tune in for very long.

I think boxing is very mucha live and will make a bigger comeback once we see more interesting fights in the future. Thank God for the welterweight division right now because thats the division that has the most commercial appeal.

I enjoy MMA and Boxing. I love both sports. I'm not white by the way. I do agree that a lot of white people watch MMA, but they do Boxing as well. Like posters have previously stated, MMA is available almost every day, not just the UFC, but other organizations like PRIDE, WEC, IFL, etc...UFC isn't the only popular MMA event(IFL always sells out arenas, PRIDE fills arenas with 90,000+, WEC has smaller venues and still manages to get them filled) and in the audiences, there are majority that are white, but I mean that doesn't discredit all the hispanics, asians, and blacks in the US that watch the sport. It takes time man, when Boxing started to gain popularity, it was an all white sport. I have a feeling the threadstarter is only trying to start an MMA vs. Boxing hatefest which is definetly not needed. Just enjoy whatever sport you like and stop criticising the other.

Due to the fact that UFC tickets cost ALOT of money($500 and up) you will see rich white people(lol) there at the events, BUT that doesn't discredit the REAL MMA fans that understand the sport, love it, and are paying $43 to order the PPVs like I do.

18% of society in the states has a college level education. That should answer this thread question.

How come Boxing is mainly filled with an Ethnic Fan base in America?

While UFC majority are White suburban teens girls and guys watching it?

            Can someone Explain this?

Boxing has been a sport of the rugged and hungry, they know when they smell blood. Its a sport concieved through the dream that you can achieve greatness with truely hard work and the determination that spills blood. The streets they've walked littered with despare and defeat.... they carried past.............Rockin'
