Malignaggi, N'dou speak!
"This was a lifelong dream come true," said newly crowned IBF junior welterweight champion Paul Malignaggi after dethroning former titleholder Lovemore N'Dou by lopsided decision on Saturday night at the Mohegan Sun Resort in Uncasville, Connecticut. "It may have looked easy, but N'dou made me work the whole fight. I said it would be easy, but that was just trash-talk. I knew he'd give me a tough fight. I knew my speed would nullify his punching." When asked what's next, Malignaggi stated "I want Ricky Hatton!" To which promoter Lou DiBella shouted out "Bring on Ricky Hatton! Let's do it at Madison Square Garden."
Ndou, meanwhile, is hoping to get Malignaggi back in the ring against him. "There was a rematch clause in the contract, so I'd like to have a rematch with him," stated the South Africa-born Australian. "He's a good boxer, but the referee let him get away with a lot. Every time we got in close the referee would separate us."
