Taking the fight on two weeks notice wasn't such a big deal seeing as how Torres had just fought a month before that and he was already in fighting shape. Both are overrated as opponents.
You got a guy in Judah who was never good against anyone good (except Cory Spinks) and then you got Torres who took the fight on two weeks notice. I can give Cotto his props for how he took care of business but the opponents were nothing close to great.
Cotto had been training for a light hitting Branco and instead had to face a fast handed, harder hitter in Torres. If anything that ****ed with Miguelito.Comment

Horse ****. Protected fighters don't face undefeated, well regarded prospects like Quintana (who had just dominated another well publicized prospect in Julio) in their first fight at a new weight class...especially when they don't have to. Cotto JUST fought Zab Judah, the "biggest puncher at 147", as some will say.
He's slated to fight the winner of Margarito/Williams....two huge Welterweights who can both punch.
Who the **** would Miguelito have to fight to no longer be protected?Comment
