    The Mayweather Tournament

That's the perfect plan...it should be as simple as winner fights Floyd. If Hatton wins agains Castillo, then he should fight Cotto. Winner of that fight fights Margarito (if he gets past his next opponent). I'm sure there's a way to work this....if we had a tournament board. Now one of you guys should go coordinate with the Mayweather camp and HBO (cuz they bring the cheese) and we have ourselves the Mayweather tournament. Call it, "The Right to Fight!"....i dunno....let's brainstorm guys...i have nothing else to do while the Wifey cooks something weird.

This is not a smartass question, so please don't take it as that. Why do British fighters come to the US to make big money? It just seems like with so many fans watching their fights they would be pulling in a ****load of money over in the UK. You hear so much about how huge stadiums are packed when guys like Hatton fight, but he only started making a lot of money when he came to the US.

Hattons fights over there were for his rep. first ,....money second. Then he cane here to the US once his record looked nice

HBO...With the right hype and people to set it up....any fight with top 5 boxers can make good money. But Floyd is looking for damn billions.....15 plus million actually

Fighters go to America for exposure. It is much easier to get a fight televised in the US if you are fighting there. I think there are other reasons as well, the most important being the number of legendary boxing arenas which can be found in the US. Fighting in these arenas is something that many boxers aspire to. As I see it, Hatton has raised his profile in the US and although there is still some scepticism about his talents I think that overall he has been pretty well received and a good performance against Castillo should raise his stock further. By holding the fight in the UK you will make a ****-load of money from stadium admissions while in the States the buyrate will more than likely be boosted due to the fact that the fight is being held on the other side of the Atlantic.

Risk/reward is worth it I think. If Cotto wins, which I predict, then his stock would rise DRAMATICALLY.

If Cotto loses against the #1 pound for pound fighter in the world and one of the greatest boxers of all-time, I don't think his stock would drop that much.

When people discuss fighters and how and why they're so great, you never hear anything about Mayweather. You never hear people say about Corrales "Oh, but he lost to Mayweather so...", or "Oh, but Castillo lost to Mayweather so...", or "Oh, De La Hoya lost to Mayweather so...".

The fact is, the guy is an animal, and there is no shame in losing to him, but performing well against him gets you props, as was the case with Castillo.

I still think he wins that fight, I just hope it doesn't happen when Mayweather gets too old and loses a step, because I'm sure there will be excuses and the whole "it would've never happened in Floyd's prime", etc...

This is what makes Mayweather's retirement all the more baffling. Why would anyone retire when they were just about to enter the most challenging and exciting chapter of their career?

Hes made loadsa money but he'll soon unretire if hes offered the right money against anyone. Hes retired knowing that TV companies will pay top dollar (more then if he was still active) to get him to fight.

Tickets in the UK are like half as much as tickets in the US. Hatton is making about same the money here as he was there and he's not packing in nearly as many fans...

If Floyd is to fight Cotto he'll expect more than 10 mil for this fight, which could be reasonale only if Cotto is making the same money.

Fact 1 - Floyd's fan base is smaller than Cotto's
Fact 2 - Floyd is a safety first fighter at this point of his career.

So he can't bring in a lot of fans and he doesn't like to take risks in the ring, how the **** does this equal bigger purse than Cotto? It doesn't!

I actually don't care to see Floyd vs Cotto. I rather see Cotto agains Margarity, Mosley, WIlliams, Cintron, Berto, etc. These guys won't ask for the stars and will arguably fight a better fight. Mayweather will be the fafourite but if he wins it will be a boring win just like the one vs DLH.

Las Vegas is where all the big money fights happen for a reason. Reason is Casino's individually and collectively pay for fights to happen in there casino or city. The additional revenue the casino's get from gamblers on these fight weekends allows them to give promoters BIG money.

i.e. a group of Missippi casino's paid about $15million to play host for Lewis-Tyson fight.

This amount is in addition to ticket sales and ppv.
