Wow that is a sad bunch of heavyweights. I'll go with Brewster.

I'm surprised at the amount of people voting for Brewster. The guy hasn't fought in over a year, lost his last fight, had a potentially career threatening eye injury, as well as never being that great a boxer anyway. He was outboxed by two fringe contenders and in two of his three big wins he was losing the fight clearly when he turned it around.

He's an exciting fighter, certainly, but I'd like to know the reasons people are voting him the best.

Well then why dont you give your own opinion..

Holyfield...going to fight Savarese..yeah right ha ha.
Rahman - Draw with Toney....hasn't fought in a long, long time.
Brock- just got beatdown by Wlad...was a fringe top 10 guy.
        Chambers- who?
        Thompson - who?
        Aerrola- Who?
Byrd- wasn't he going down to Cruiser?
Toney- close fight with Ruiz, should of lost to Rahman in my opinion, lost to Peter. He has fringe written all over him.

At least someone like Rahman [who I don't particularly like] has always been a decent operator and had the ability to win fights by decision. Brewster has been fortunate in 2 of his three big wins and was beaten earlier in his career by Shufford and Etienne. He's just never been that good. He lost his last fight which was over a year ago so I just don't see how he can be ranked the best.

          Everyone's entitled to their opinion.

People make too much of Brewster fight with Lyakhovich, but he was fighting half-blinded from the first round eye injury, and he normally would have knocked Serguei out. Look what happened in Lamon's previous fights - he KOed Golota and stopped Krasniqi and Wladimir.

Brewster was young when he lost to Shufford and Etienne and he improved after that.

I agree with you about Brock. People underestimate him because of the loss to Wlad, but he was doing quite well in the first five rounds until he was weakened by a hard Wlad right, then in the next round he went down from the left jab followed by another hard right. I think Brock is in the top five or six, and Brock vs. Ibragimov would be an even matchup and a great fight.

He was being beaten badly by Klitschko until Klitschko apparently gassed. In the Krasniqi fight he was also being beaten until Krasniqi took his eye off the ball. Golota blows hot and cold and has constantly cracked under pressure all through his career. The wins cannot be taken away from him, they're legitimate wins, but they're deceiving wins.

                    Tye Fields
                    36-1 (33 KO's)

                    Won his last fight, 2007-01-25.
Avenged his only loss by KO.

Should be on any top ten American heavyweight list.
With his impressive KO record you would think that promoters would be hyping this guy...

Guess he just doen't have the right "image" to ever be given a shot at anything big?

I've been reading that Hasim Rahman may be offered a shot against Chagaev, and Holyfield may be fighting Ibragimov. An American boxer may win a title before the year is over.

If you think it's someone not on the list, let us know with a post.
sadly,,,,probably chris byrd. lamon brewster is the most dangerous but I think byrd would out point him. tony thompson and chambers have potential to be the best of those guys but theyre still too unproven
