Tarver is awful at this point in his career.

And Tarver Knows is, thats why he's claiming Dawson "isn't a big enough star" to fight.
dawson is in his prime right now, tarver has good all around skills but he's a lazy ****er. the speed and the work rate of dawson are a bad combination for tarver, dawson also hits alot harder than B hop. dawson will give tarver the beating a prime roy jones would have handed him

Chad Dawson has the goods. I think he'd bust Tarver up on some serious ****. Tarver generally benefits from being taller, rangier, and more awkward than his opponents...that ain't the case in this one.

This is going to sound premature, but I honestly think that if Floyd has retired that Chad Dawson is the best fighter we as Americans have to offer. I know, I know... Winky, Hopkins, Taylor, Mosley, etc, and I know Dawson hasn't fought near anyone to prove that in any way, but I just see it when he fights. He has every punch. Every single one. He has really good defensive reflexes, and he also has really good power. His body work is outstanding as well. That isn't even mentioning his biggest strength either, which is his hand speed and coordination that lead to devastating combinations. I am hugely on the Chad Dawson bandwagon. I think he beats Tarver EASILY. I don't think it is even a competitive fight. Dawson seems to get caught with something that can hurt him only when he doesn't think the opponent is a threat anymore and becomes careless. I think Tarver would keep his respect even after falling way behind.

I agree with you that Chad Dawson is one of the very best American boxers around right now. The kid has the physical assets, natural skills, and work ethic to become a mainstay in championship caliber boxing. His jab is a thing of beauty, and he has shown that he can get off the canvas to win on a couple of occasions now against two formidable opponents.

He was on my radar after he beat Carl Daniels. His efforts against Harding and Adamek have won me over. I think the kid is great.

It definitely is. Much improved. You saw it first in the Daniels fight.

I think if they fight late 2007, then Tarver might pull it out. Give Dawson a couple more legitimate Top 10 Light heavyweight opponents (of which he's only had 2 his entire career), and he's ready for The Magic Man

i would like to see chad fight tarver, then if glen Johnson beats Clinton woods if they do fight again they could have a unification fight.
