    Cotto And The "But"

Am I the only one who feels like Cotto is a good fighter "but" theres always a "but" in him. He's the only elite fighter who I always feel this way about. Everytime he has a somewhat big fight I always says that if he wins this fight a certain way then I will give him total credit and acknowledge him as a monster. Then when you watch the fight, he looks good, he wins, he's exciting, "but" you always come away feeling that something is missing. He either is in some controversey or he got rocked, or he did some dirty stuff. Basically, in nearly all of his big fights you come away feeling that his opponent still couldve won if something had just went a little different.

I will give him credit because he is clearly a elite fighter but I still dont give him the full credit that he "may" deserve because to me there is just something missing in his performances. It always seems like he's just a step away from getting completely exposed and maybe even completely dominated. His next fight will tell the world everything they need to know. Its a slight chance it could be Floyd but even if its just the Williams-Margarito winner then you will really know where he stands. Maybe even if he could man up and fight a Mosley or Clottey. All 5 of those guys are fighters who are on the top of there games, are all mentally tough, and will bring the real. Williams may not fit in that catagory but if he beats Margarito then he will. I hope Cotto definatly fights one of those guys next and doesnt completely switch and take a easy fight. I dont even want to see a Hatton fight. I want to see him against one of those top 147 pounders because I still see him right behind all of them and Cintron. He's more skilled then Cintron but he's been rocked too much for me to think Cintron wont take his head off

I understand what you're saying, I also thought he was going to get knocked out, But it got me thinking, is his chin just real weak, or is he taking a real hard flushed shot and not going down? We can debate if his getting hurt by a light punch, or a hard flushed shot that someone else would've been knocked down. That's the mystery part for me. Is he getting rocked by a simple punch, or a punch anyone else wouldve been droped with, so if the best solid shot lands on him and all he does is gets dazed but doesnt go down, then he has a good chin. I wont put a but on him because the way he fights who wont get hit? you rather he fights like spinks who barely gets hit, or the way cotto fights, gets hits, gets dazed and comeback to dish out punishment? Hmnnnnnnnn thats the real but for you and me.

I dont know man, he's been rocked a bunch of times. You have to give him credit for not going down but he definatly hasnt faced enough elite guys to be getting rocked in nearly every fight and sometimes it happeneds multiple times. Either he has a weak chin or his D completely sucks. Either way its not a good thing. People try to say that its not weak because if it was then he would be going down but thats garbage. Ive seen guys like Floyd, Winky, X, and many others get hit with a ton of big shots and 99% of the time it never fazes them. They might get stood up but they never wobble or look completely dazed. If it happened once or twice then I would give him the benefit but its happened pretty often.

Besides, what did all his supporters say? They said that it was just a weight issue and he wont be so easy to get rocked at 147. He's still getting rocked. I saw Zab hit Floyd clean a bunch and Baldy but they never flinched. Even Tszyu got hit hard by Zab a bunch of times in round 1 but he never wobbled. Im just saying that if he fights any of the top guys at 147 then that will be his realist test because pretty much all of them can pop and are mentally tough

The only "but" I had to say at the end of the night, is "...He did good but if he keeps fighting like this, he won't last long."

I think having a victory and a but is better than loosing and saying "he could have one if...." I don't think he has that bad of a chin. He took some good shots and didn't go down. His style just leaves him open to walk into shots, which always hurts more. Plus with Zabs speed, power, and style, it doesn't seem too bad. Zab KD Mayweather, but not Cotto.

There are holes in Cotto's game but he's joined the ranks of elite fighters with this win.

I wont give him too much heat for being rocked by Zab because Im the one who always says that a punch from a lefty can pretty much rock anyone and they hurt way more because you cant see them coming or you can see them, have a good D, and still cant block it

Felix Trinidad got knocked down in every fight "but" would get up and KO the fighter. So what is wrong with Cotto?

Man you are hard to please. Cotto has dominated every single one of his opponents. Sure hes had rough patches in those fights, but overall they were dominating performances. In the three fights he got rocked in he knocked his opponent down a total of 11 times. 11 times! (two in the Corley fight werent credited)
