how can you classify those fights as upsets when it happens all the time? the so called UFC "champions" are not that much better then the rest of the pack which is exactly my point. you can't call it an upset when any fighter can get KTFO on any night. in boxing fights mean much more and upsets happen less often. you don't see top guys getting KTFO in the first round by another guy who has been KTFO himself. if that happened boxing would be considered a JOKE
just think about it a few years down the road. everyone in the ufc will have lost to every other joe schmoe who no one gives a **** about, titles switching hands every fight, what does that leave you? a system where fights mean NOTHING and you could switch the name of every fighter and it wouldn't ****ing matter. people are just watching to see someone get brutally KO'd, they could give a **** less about records or a fighters legacy, or belts, etc. i remember watching a UFC show where they just shoveled the guys in the octagon and gave you a 10 second background of who the hell these guys are, like you're supposed to care. they themselve know that no one gives a **** about that and only care about someone getting his face ripped off with an elbow. but that fascination with brutal KO's will only last so long. UFC is all flash no substance and they know it. in a few years the explosion will be over and it will have no substance to survive on, the flash will be gone, and it won't be half as big as it is right now. they're just cashing in as much as they can right now.
boxing = long term, substance. which is why its lasted since the 1800s
UFC = short-term flash
its that simple
