Judah financially forced into taking on the young gun-no doubt about it!

Zab Judah really hasnt fought in over a year, his last fight doesnt count for a few different reasons that we dont even need to get into.

Zab needs money, this fight is certainly a great opportunity for Zab but it also represents quite possibly the LAST time he will eve make SERIOUS money in his career as a prize fighter and he knows this.

If he quits in this fight or gets iced then he will no longer command million dollar paydays, paydays he most likely needs to keep up his lifestyle.

So Saturday night is a chance for Zab to really change his status as a fighter which is great for Zab no doubt but more importantly Zab is getting paid and I could be wrong but I think the money is what made him take this fight, not the potential status as a fighter he would garner if he won it.

Does anyone think the money even crossed Cotto's mind? Sure Miguel is younger, undefeated...he has many more lives to burn then the older shop warn Judah but still-the money is in Zab's head and the MAIN reason he took this fight, the status as a fighter is what currently motivates Cotto and is the reason he took this fight.

I dont know if it matters in terms of what your motiviation is do you?

    Does anyone have a thought?

You make good points, but I can assure you money has crossed Cotto's mind.

Would Judah prefer a better tune-up to a fight like this? Sure, but when would he ever get a shot like this again? If Margarito didn't back out of this fight, Judah would be stuck between fighting another Galvan type on FNF while hoping he could get a fight with the Cintron-Mathysse winner this fall. This is quite a difference from that scenario, and even fi the money wasn't that good, he would have to take this fight.

Think about the Spinks rematch. $100,000 to fight Spinks in St.Louis? He knew he had to take that fight to get his career back on track and he did, the money was terrible for a fight like that, but he did it anyway.

Here, faced with taking a huge, HUGE Cotto fight in NYC or fighting a couple more tuneups before challenging a lesser titlist, he chose wisely, I don't care what the money is.

Your right he did choose wisely but I guess what Im getting at his Zab chose wisely because he had no other choices/options.

Like you pointed out there are other roads that would probably of been more bebeficial for Zab to take overall but because his career is in such flux he is cornered and had no choice but to take this fight.

BTW-Sure money has crossed Cotto's mind I dont mean to be literal.

Sorry buddy, you are incorrect, Zab has money - ALOT of it at that. What he doesn't have is the title, and THAT is the reason he is fighting Cotto. After this weekend, he will once again be the Champion, after stopping Cotto - which he will do inside of 6 Rounds....

Well, I am not a "casual" boxing fan, I work in the sport and I am pretty good at picking a winner. (DeLaHoya excluded, he never wins the big ones)

Besides that, Zab is a friend of mine, so you know I've got to back my friend!

Personaly though, I see this one as "who can land the big one first" and trust me my friend, Zab is MUCH faster than Cotto, it is easy to see him being able to land a bomb on Cotto before Miguel gets his punch off. That will be the case the entire time until the TKO stoppage.

Zab wins it in an impressive performance....

Sure I dont work in the sport Mr. Lyons but I have close freinds who write for b-Talk and I have been told Don King helped Zab out of a few financial crisis.(they could be talking out of their ass who knows)

You say he has ALOT of money-where has he made all of this loot, it wasnt like he was given a kings ransom for the Zoo fight or his efforts against Corey Spinks. (besides Mayweahter whhat fight made him millions...btw-what was his purse for that fight and how much did he have to give back)

Is Zab a day trader? How do you know he has lots of money-Im not saying your wrong but just because you work in the business and announce a fight of his at a casino in Mississippi doesnt make you Zabs accountant-how do you know he has alot of money?

Cotto's chin looks solid at 147 considering some of the clean shots he took from Quintana that he walked through. Quintana is no Zab in terms of punching power, but he's not Malignaggi either.

Zab's chin isn't necessarily glass, either, so I don't think it's a matter of who lands first. Cotto's focus will be the body to slow Judah down and I think he will succeed at doing that, eventually stopping Zab late thanks in large part to the body assault.

Also, Cotto has proved that he can get hurt and recover and even get up from a knockdown and fight back ferociously. So even if Judah does knock him down early (a very real possibility), by no means does that mean the fight is over.

No matter what happens, this fight should be very good.

Zab must land the big one to win, as his friend can you see him winning a fight that is back and fourth, give and take...blood and guts for 10 or 11 rounds?

If you can what perormance do you point to that would suggest he can prevail in such a fight?

You are good at picking fights Traveler-me and you both were all over the Jirov v. Moorer fight but are you good at fights when friends are involved?

Can Zab win an 11 round brawl with a young animal like Cotto?

Like you said Zab better catch him big.

Zab does need money, but he would be a fool to duck Cotto. Cotto makes him a good payday and he does have a chance to win the fight. I think Judah is tailor made for Cotto, though, but Cotto has shown he's vulnerable in the past...
