Joe Calzaghe: "I Can Knock Mikkel Kessler Out"

In a recent interview with PA Sport, WBO super middleweight champ Joe Calzaghe said the reason he agreed to fight WBC/WBA ruler Mikkel Kessler in Denmark is because he is so confident of beating him. Calzaghe's promoter Frank Warren is hoping to finalize a deal with Kessler's promoter Mogens Palle by the end of the week for a September clash. [details]

I just watched Kessler v Andrade...Kessler is not very good going backwards and im sure Calzaghe will push Mikkel backwards by applying constant pressure...i am confident Calzaghe can stop Kessler, not so sure about knocking him clean out tho.

In a way I am kinda amazed at How successful Kessler is...
He is very very predictable..JAB JAB JAB CROSS... I dont think I have ever seen him throw a Hook or Uppercut..

There must be some subtle skill he has that I am missing because I just dont get it..

But the fact remains.. he is successful.. and rarely loses a round..

I still think.. barring a hand injury during the fight.. Or if Calzaghe gets OLD over night.. A UD Victory for JC.. I would only give him a small chance for KO..

i'm positive joe won't knock kessler clean out. joe is a TKO-hoe.

but in any case, if the fight happens in denmark, i can see it going the distance.

He's gonna have to get through a wicked jab to do it.

I said exactly the same thing about him in a thread i done, but that wont be his only undoing, its gonna be his footwork imo, i dont he is be gonna be ready to be swarmed with quick combinations, and he doesnt throw enough to keep calzaghe off him imo, now i could be wrong but dont be suprised if you see a end to the fight within 6 rounds, stoppage. thats not my pick, im just saying dont be suprised.

This is gonna be a close fight and put both men to points where they have never been before. At first after watching the Kessler/Andrade fight I thought Kessler would do work on Calzaghe, but like Welter and Tech said Kessler seems like just a jab and a cross. With Calzaghe coming with the pressure we will see how Kessler reacts. I want Kessler to win, but if I had to make a prediction at this point I will pick Calzaghe UD. If it's close Kessler will probably get the decision in Denmark.
