Ike is plain and simple a bad technical fighter. Peter is better in every category. Peter would kill him.
Ibeabuchi V Peter

There are at least five current HWs against whom Ike would never have stood much of a chance.Ike was better in almost every department. He had better handspeed, accuracy, stamina, not half as clumsy. Just a much classier, more talented fighter than Samuel Peter. The Ike who fought Tua would probably win by about 9 rounds to 3. The improved Ike with head movement takes a clean sweep and maybe even stops Peter.
We're not talking about a Wladimir Klitschko type fighter who will fight tentative, with all due respect to Klitschko. Ike would be hitting Peter with leather round after round, even taking some shots himself. Ike is the sort of guy the heavyweight division is crying out for; a fearless fighter with an indomitable will who throws huge shots and is willing to put it all on the line.
People can say what they want about people going overboard about him, but there's no one like him out there today. He was one hell of a specimen of a man, but a messed up individual.Comment

I'm not trolling Paul I you're one of my favorite posters. We just see it differently. We're looking at different things. I'm looking at how Ike throws his punches, especially his right hand with his low delivery and shoulder forward. There's too much time and space to tag him and get out of the way. Compare those winging rights Peter used to make Toney **** his pants in the first round of the second fight.Comment

Paul how do you rate Peter? I'm usually hard on punchers (for instance I never liked Miranda, I think Haye's ****, have no taste for Margarito) but I rate him highly.
If you're going to be a puncher you should fight like Peter.Comment

So you're honestly saying Samuel Peter is in Ike Ibeabuchi's league? That's absolutely absurd. For every clubbing shot Ike takes, Peter would be taking 3 or 4 in return. Technically not sound? And Peter is? He's one of the worst technical fighters I've seen. He's just a big strong guy who throws big wide punches.
And you're comparing a washed up Toney with a prime Chris Byrd, who at the time was one of the slickest fighters in boxing? There's nothing that I can see from Peter that tells me he would give Ike any trouble whatsoever. So what if he tags him a couple of times? He took hundreds of Bombs from Tua, who was a hell of a better fighter at that time than Peter is.
Tell me who Samuel Peter has beaten who compares to a prime David Tua and Chris Byrd? Explain to me how a guy with Peter's stamina can last a furious pace round after round with a guy who won't back off. Explain to me how a guy as slow and clumsy as Peter can land more punches than his faster and more accurate counterpart.
Peter is not even the best heavyweight in a horrible, horrible era of heavyweight boxing. He couldn't manage to do what three other people did and beat Wladimir Klitschko. You reckon Wlad would have stood up to Ike's pressure?
The question is could Ike have beaten Lennox, not Sam ****ing Peter, pleaaaase.Last edited by paul750; 06-05-2007, 03:29 PM.Comment

Today's Wlad would have little trouble at all with Ike Ibeabuchi, sure.
Could Ike have beaten Lennox Lewis? That's a fair question. Could Wlad have beaten him? Could Peter have beaten him? Those are fair questions also.
I don't think the heavyweight division was so much better ten years ago than it is today.Comment

Ike fights very square it looks to me and doesn't have the ditance on his punches to land against a Klitschko. His face is a sitting target, always in range.
But maybe I have him wrong, that's just what I see when I look at him.Comment

This appears to be sour g****s because you're a Wladimir Klitschko fan. I'm not taking part in any further discussion on this matter. It's a pile of nonsense you're talking. You're a decent guy, but on this matter, good day.Comment
