    de la Hoya's record

As everyone knows there are both very controversial wins on his record, and equally controversial losses. What do you see his record as?

    Controversial Wins:
    Ike Quartey
    Felix Sturm
    Pernell Whitaker

    Controversial Losses:
    Shane Mosley
    Shane Mosley
    Felix Trinidad
    Floyd Mayweather Jr.

I have de la Hoya at 41-2-0, with Wins over Shane twice, Felix and Floyd, and losing to Bernard and Sturm.

    How do you got it?

    40-3

I'll give Oscar the Trinidad fight, and Mosley II.

No need to take anything from the man who has given so much to his sport.

        Draw with Whitaker
        Close loss to Quartey
        Close win over Trinidad
Close (clear) loss to Mosley 1st fight
Close win over Mosley 2nd fight
        Close loss to Sturm
        KO defeat to Hopkins
        8-4 loss to Mayweather

What's his official record? 38-5? I'd have him at 37-5-1.

He got those losses because he fought everyone there was to fight pretty much, he was still world class even in the mayweather fight, this is why it annoys me when people criticise de la hoya, but then praise hopkins,

Compare de la hoya's resume to hopkins, compare who fought who in thier primes, and who fought who at what weight.

Its not even close, inside the ring De La Hoya is a living legend, no question.

Now you are correct with the DLH/B-Hop comparisons...there are none to make..But at the same time his may be world class but he could never pull out the big one..He did fight them all I must say..His record may be diiferent had he not left 140-147...

Yeah but most fighters have one or two carrer defining fights, de la hoya had about 5, lol. and he beat vargas, which was a big one at the time, seeing as vargas had a win over winky wright, was skilled and was the bigger man and a dangerous puncher, beat chavez, etc. he has had big wins, the more world class fighter you face, the more chance you have of losing, 99% of boxers would probably have lost after facing the fighters DLH has faced in his carrer, we know who the other 1% is. lol.
