      Hatton chasing Mayweather fight

Mayweather outclassed the respected Gatti on Saturday night
Ricky Hatton says he wants to take on American Floyd Mayweather in Madison Square Garden in November or December.
Mayweather destroyed Arturo Gatti to win the WBC light welterweight crown on Saturday and IBF champion Hatton is eager to boost his profile in the US.

Manchester boxer Hatton told BBC Sport: "Madison Square Garden is the mecca of boxing and I've never topped the bill there. That would be an absolute dream.

"But the show is put on where the money goes so he may have to come over here."

Hatton, who took the IBF belt from Kostya Tszyu in Manchester on 5 June, added on BBC Radio Five Live: "I want one more fight before the end of the year.

"I'm taking a break now and when we find out who we are fighting I'll get back in training."

Asked if he thought Mayweather would be a dangerous opponent, Hatton said: "Yes, very much so.

"But not more dangerous than Kostya Tszyu.

"He doesn't hit as hard as Kostya Tszyu but he makes up for it with speed and sheer boxing ability. Maybe that would give me advantage but who knows.

"I'd like to fight him next. You have to say that (what he did against Gatti) was absolutely masterful. Gatti's no mug, but that's how Mayweather made him look.

Then He says before the collzao fight.

MIKE HOUSER: Ricky I spoke with Bruce Trampler of Top Rank, Mayweather’s now former promoter. He said that you turned down the fight with Mayweather at least twice this year and that you would not be facing him this year. Is that correct?

RICKY HATTON: Well, me personally it wasn’t done but I mean I can’t be speaking for their – you know for my team or – to be honest this year it would be ****** to admit with a fight with Mayweather because I have so many problems with – problems outside the ring where my father promoted (INAUDIBLE) obviously we were sitting trying to do a deal with HBO.

I was in negotiations with that when my current promoter and he’s my new promoter, you know, from Artie Pelullo, Robert Waterman and Dennis Hobson. He was who had the court case with Souleymane M’Baye was claiming (INAUDIBLE) fight. There were so many things going on and it’s been difficult to – you know to basically get on with the fighting so to speak, you know, with the negotiations.

But I think the sensible thing is, you know, I’ve – I don’t think that when I come straight out of England and fight in the first time in America and fight Floyd Mayweather, you know. To be perfectly honest with you I think that would be a ****** thing to do.

I mean for instance Floyd Mayweather, you know, said on many occasions a few years back he would come to Manchester and he would fight me in front of me own crowd and he would knock me out and do all this crap what he’s been saying and now he’s all of a sudden decided – seems a bit cautious (INAUDIBLE) and don’t – during – over the last 12 months he didn’t want to come to Manchester.

So, you know, if I was going to be (INAUDIBLE), you know, maybe he don’t want to fight me. He said he was going to come to Manchester now he’s changed his mind. So I’m not inviting Floyd. Floyd’s not inviting me. You know and I had a lot going on in the last 12 months but me and Floyd will get it together. So I’ll fight everybody once but I think – you know I have not fight in the United States for a number of years now so I think it’s important that I’ve done my deal now with my new promoters and we’re with HBO and we know what direction we’re going.

Hopefully the court case with my (INAUDIBLE) promoter with (INAUDIBLE) – will get squashed and the case with Souleymane M’Baye and then you know we can start looking about positive things like a fight with Mayweather but it’s a been a difficult 12 months for me and ...

I mean I’m not saying that, you know, my feet have turned down a fight with Mayweather it may be that (INAUDIBLE) answer for them but there been a little bit confusion, you know, over lately what me team would be. You know, I’ve just only just recently signed with HBO and Dennis Hobson and Robert Waterman of Fight Academy and Art Pelullo of banner Promotions and it’s nice to know what direction you’re going in.

I think you need to know what direction you’re going in before you can make a decision like on a fight with Mayweather

There are other instances too, so does ricky tell us the truth?
Floyd does this a lot too no? Its about money, legacy... no wait money... no legacy.. I want to be the best so I want to fight the best.. Oh I wont fight him because he wont make me enough money.. Bigger Flip Flopper then John Kerry!

Hatton wouldn't have to call up lightweights for major fights if he had stuck around at welterweight. He knew full well that 140 is a joke...

If Hatton were gonna fight N'Dou, the all the Hatton haters would say he's afraid of Castillo, and he's waiting for Castillo to turn 40, and then he won't back down. Please, I've heard all this B4

Hatton took a step in the right direction by fighting castillo, for that he deserves credit, to be honest, he gets heat because he constantly calls out other fighters then doesnt fight them.

Hatton is underrated slightly in term of boxing ability, i have said he has some degree of skills, what i am saying is there are cases where he has said one thing and clearly done the opposite, and he doesnt give an explaination of why this is,

One min he says he would love to fight witter, then he thinks witter is not worthy, etc.

Yeah hell Floyd was makin a big fuss about wanting to fight Winky. The guy who drew with the undisputed Middleweight champ. Sure...

But Hatton has to keep his eye on Castillo for right now or his hopes of a Floyd match will go down the drain.

Every boxer is a liar. They lie about what is coming up, or make excuses for what just happened, or lie about how they feel. No boxer says "I'm going to fight a pretty easy fight, for the best possible payday" then during training say "I dont feel too good to be honest. I'm having a bit of a crisis of confidence and am feeling a bit under the weather" and then after the fight say "To be honest, he hurt me all through the fight, but I just had to grit it out anyway". They all lie in different ways. Hatton at least admits to have been hurt and doesnt pretend that he was in imperious form when he clearly wasnt. So he lies less than most.

You're right, but there is one difference that is evident. Floyd talked **** about Margarito being an easy fight, so he picked off the WW champ and then DLH. Hatton talked about Witter not being worthy then fought Urango. Whether you like Floyd or not you have to admit that Baldy was the 147 champ and DLH was one tough SOB. And whether you love Hatton you have to admit that Witter would be more of a challenge than Urango.

I dont think Hatton said Witter wasnt worthy did he? Hatton just implied he has fought better boxers than Witter. He also gave other reasons why he didnt want Witter. Didnt like Witter was another reason and dont want to give him a payday and that is nothing to do with him not thinking Witter is worthy. But dont you think Urango was comparable to Witter in anyway. He was unbeaten werent he and held a belt. Anyway there are a lot of boxers for Hatton to box now, Castillo being the one and the Urango was just a one off werent it?
