i really dont think they do, there is a massive amount of power added on to a punch when its thrown properly (according to boxing) and i dont think people understand how dangerous boxing really is, i was just reading matts thread and hes going to spar an ex fighter even though he has no experience with 10oz gloves...**** that could have gone very wrong
do people realise how much a single boxing punch can do to you?

I agree that a lot of people just think that they could take a punch without any problems. A real fighter could do serious damage. I find that most people who follow boxing really appreciate the power of a punch but those who don't really know the sport don't know. -
Briggs changed the whole fight around in his last fight. He would have lost by decision if he didn't get the ko. And it was like in the last 20 seconds of the fight.Comment

I loved it when Chris Eubank was followed by journalist Louis Theroux for a couple of weeks for his tv show and Eubank took him to the gym.
Louis was so scared whilst sparring with Chris is was really funny. Afterwards Chris made fun of Louis (only light-heartidly) and Louis asked how hard he thought he punched. Chris then said he estimated Louis punched at around 400lb's a square inch - and Louis was very impressed with himself - he says "that sounds pretty impressive doesn't it" Chris then said something like ... "not when i punch at 4 tons per square inch".
I remember in the papers around the time of Tyson vs Lewis they said Lewis had the power in this right fist to punch through a house wall if he wanted too.
Crazy eh??Comment

Your average feather fisted fighter can punch much harder than the average person you would find on the street. A punch by Mike Tyson is the equivilent of getting hit in the head by a 16lb sledge hammer going 35 mph.
Boxing is a very very dangerous sport that requires extensive training. You should never just jump in the ring with no experiance.Last edited by shawn_; 06-02-2007, 09:14 PM.Comment

dude youre always making inaccurate statements, briggs would not have lost the fight without the knockout, it would have been a majority draw.
he was down 3 points going into the last roud on two cards, and he had a 10-7 round going for him had lyakovich gotten up it would have been a majority draw w/briggs winning the 3rd cardComment
