A younger Vargas would beat Mayorga, but the present version will probably get ko'd.

vargas is naturally way bigger, he presented more problems for trinidad and oscar than mayorga did and vargas actually beat campas, raul marquez, wright and quartey. Vargas also has much more boxing skill than mayorga

Yeah but look at the Mosley fights. Vargas got tko’d twice by Mosley, who isn’t a big puncher at 154. Fighting at a higher weight will help but I can't see him lasting unless Mayorga is totally washed up.

This is a weird fight because Vargas is not planning on fighting past this fight and winning this fight does nothing for his career. And if Mayorga beats Vargas it doesn't mean a heck of alot because Vargas is not what use to be. I guess it should only be looked at for two things...1.) its going to be a war 2.) Its an opportunity for Vargas to walk away with a win. Which is good for any athelete. I hope Vargas wins.

Vargas should fight a little better considering the fight is at 162. He still blows up way too much between fights though. He looked about 220 at the Alpha Dog premier. That plus diminished skills equals more trouble for him. Then again Mayorga hasnt fought in over a year and wont have as much power at 162. I dont really know what to think of the fight.

vargas will still be marketable, in LA, he has a huge mexican fan base, gatti really sucks and he still gets title shots, spinks sucks as well, every fight he runs tracks in ,he gets bad after bad decisions go his way, he isnt even anywhere as marketable as vargas, vargas is still exciting in the ring vargas is gonna bluff on retiring after he wins, fight stiffs or journeymen then get title shots.
