I'd be surprised if Calzaghe travelled for this fight unless the terms are substantially increased. He'd make $5m if this fight was staged in the UK. It seems to me that one party wanted to make the fight and one didn't. I'll be interested to see what Palle's next bluff is.

Well as both offers came out of Palle's mouth, who knows where the truth lies. And as you well know, Palle stated the second offer was $3m plus half the gate which would be pretty near to $5m.

What we have here is something different - Palle has publicly and unequivocally offered Calzaghe $5m. Warren has seemingly accepted this offer, if it stands. We'll see.

I'd be surprised if the fight happens though as both promoters are vermin.

Joe has to fight Americans for his legacy. There's a false belief that white European boxers are inferior to black American fighters. Calzaghe managed to gain some respect after he defeated Lacy.

I'd prefer to see him fight someone like Tarver, Wright, Jones, Taylor or Hopkins. Kessler is a more difficult opponent for Joe than any American right now, and the only one who has a 50/50 chance of beating him. Joe has lots to lose but little to gain from fighting Kessler.
