what would you do to "fix" boxing???

i put the word fix in the Quotes because it's not neccessarily broken, but it is in need of a few tweeks...

1.bring back prize fighting..... the champ get's a guaranteed 1-2 mil., while the challenger get's 500k(roughly). the purse then get's divided 70-30 with the winner taking the larger half. i don't care who's name sells tickets you still have to come to fight if you want to get paid.

    2. isolate the judges, place them in seperate rooms away from the crowd and have them watch the fight with little to no volume(that way the crowd has no influence or the judging) ,using monitors all with the same camera angle(s). this allows them to each see the same fight, they could use the same view that they give us at home.

    3. they need a scoring system with more guidelines. award points for pressure, defense.....maybe define the difference between light vs. power punches(2 light punches is = to 1 power punch, or something to that effect..just tossing around ideas)...

pick the judges the day of the fight, and have them in no contact with the other judges..

There should a regular weekly boxing program on a major network with highlights of big fights and a couple of live fights.

They need to unify the sanctioning bodies or have annual unification tournaments so there will be one real champion for each weight class.

The selfish promoters like King, Arum, Duva and Warren who couldn't care less about the well being of the sport need to be replaced by a new generation of people who better understand what 21st century sport fans want.

Whenever you have a judging system with strict guidelines you will have sombody exploit it.

I think they need to have some sort of performance index that determines pay in a fight.

You throw 1000 punches in a fight you get 100% of your money
You throw 500 punches in a fight you get 50% of your money.\
If you pull a Jermaine Taylor and only throw 319 punches in a fight, you get 31.9% of your money.
If you win by knockout you get 100% of your purse.

If a fighter only gets 50% of his purse, 25% would go to a 401k for the fighter, and 25% would go to a health care plan for fighters.

If I fighter gets 90% of his purse 5% goes to a 401k and 5% to a health care plan for fighters.

This would help aleviate the problem of fighters spending all their money and ending up broke.

It would also award the exciting fighters and not the boring fighters that run all night.

Only PPV fights for important/big fights. I don't think Cotto-Judah should be PPV. Especially when Zab hasn't really earned the shot. Get boxing on more channels than HBO, Showtime, and ESPN. Have more well known fighters on Friday Night Fights/Wednesday Night Fights. I know people who think only washed up guys or nobodies fight other than the weekend.

More promotion. BUILD MORE BOXING GYMS.

Oh yeah and somebody said before me A WEEKLY BOXING SHOW. ESPN(or ESPN2) COULD FIT IT LIKE MID-DAY SATURDAY SINCE THEY DON'T PLAY **** ELSE IMPORTANT ON SATURDAY.

              1. Allow 8 oz. gloves.
              2. Bring back 15 rounds for Unification bouts.
              3. Bring back scoring refs. They have the best view.
              4. No more, Champs fighting for the most money. Mandatory fights with the next Number 1 contender.
              5. Standardized training for all judges.
              6. Audits of all judges, ala the NBA, they must be held accountable for their score cards.
              7. Day of the fight weigh ins.

make every fight a winner take most of the purse...
such as 70 winner loser 30 or 80 winner 20 loser or 60 winner 40 loser
                u katch my drift
make a playoff system or tournament (basketball, football, ncaa) where fighters "have" to fight other fighters in order to be champion

Number 1 sounds good, I don't know about number 2, the best view of a fight is live and it's hard to score a fight on TV. Just have them wear ear plugs or something.

I would simply have one champ per division and force fighters to fight the number one contender at least every 6 months.

                    Have instant replays..

That way the ref cant screw up and make a bad call ie..Mayweather/Judah
When theres a knockdown theres a knockdown..
