Do you hear these guys battling about boxing vs UFC? Its great
Dibella vs Rogan On ESPN Right Now!!!!!!

Wow, I hope some of you got to see that. It was a great war of words. I was actually shocked that ESPN basically led off with talking about the Liddell-Jackson fight. I guess there going to try to promote that as much as they just did Floyd-Oscar. It was funny though because Brian Kenney was supposed to be unbiased but you could clearly see that he was sticking up for boxing. 1st time Ive agreed with him in a long time. In the end, both guys made some good points and it was fun to see -
I refuse to acknowledge that UFC trash until they have a good fight. In however many years they've been around, they haven't produced one significant fight or event. I ask UFC fans all the time what the best fight ever was, and they have no idea. They can't name anything good and don't have the guts to show it to me. UFC's greatest moments are when a guy holds another in an armbar for 5 minutes and the other guy gets up and wins with a kick to the head. Awesome stuff.Comment

I agree. Rogan spoke more eloquently than DiBella and even had to defend himself as a fan of boxing.
I believe boxing is a more entertaining sport, but it may be different as I have grown up with boxing around me since I was a little kid. I can see how some of the younger crowd who hasn't come up with boxing would be attracted to smoe of the savagery of MMA.Comment

It was a good 10 minutes or so too. Both made good points, but Rogan saying that UFC will swallow up boxing is ridiculous. I also disagree with it being "human **** fighting" like Dibella said. It just pisses me off that people are even saying that it will "kill boxing". They should have had someone else talk besides Dibella too. He didnt do a good job defending boxing.Comment

I think Joe is right that people that would have gone into boxing will go into MMA. UFC, according to ESPN, generated more money last year or this past year than boxing, and everybody knows that athlete$ prefer to go into $port$ where the money i$.
I used to watch some of the MMA fights back in the day but found it somewhat boring, even though I have a Martial Arts background. Boxing was my preference, still is, but have to admit after watching a ton of fights on satellite with IFL, Pride, and UFC, I find myself becoming a big fan of the sport. I still find the grappling part of the sport boring, even though it is a part of "real fighting", but the smaller gloves and high KO percentage from fighters wanting to engage makes up for it.
For the argument that boxers could not make it in MMA is ridiculous. Maybe they could not shoot right to the top and stay there with just boxing skills, but take any elite boxer give him a few years to learn other skills/forms, he will do quite well. In fact, an elite boxer might even have some advantages because he will have perfected the art of hand combat, which is lethal in MMA, despite what many say. Joe Rogan, commentating during a fight with a former champion kick-boxer who knocked out his opponent quickly, even said one time that boxers have the better reaction time because they are practicing at the speed of hand combat, which is much faster than the other combat forms.
Also, remember that Chuck’s trainer even said that someone like Tyson could do quite well in MMA if he added onto fighting ability, ex: wrestling.
Why do boxers also continue to say that MMA is just like "****-fighting"?
If MMA is, then so is boxing.
I think it just hurts seeing a sport start to tail off and another coming into play, especially given the great history and heroes boxing has produced.Comment
