No, this rumor is going around other boxing websites. Check ESB's general forum.

Seems about right to me. Taylor makes himself unavailable, so Warren goes and thrashes out a decent deal with the next best current option. The winner will be looking to face the winner of Hopkins and Wright and then Taylor or whoever has superceded him will be there to tie up all real loose ends. Maybe even Froch depending upon the progress he makes.

The timing makes sense more this way to be honest (though I think that Taylor now is the better fight for Calzaghe's legacy). One way or another he's going to have to fight Kessler, but leave it too much longer and Kessler only increases his chances of winning. On the other hand it doesnt matter how much longer he leaves Hopkins or Wright because neither of them are getting any younger anyway.

Good analysis. Unless Joe's intention is to never fight Kessler, it does make sense to fight him before the others.

So Calzaghe is pretty much never going to fight on US soil is he?
NO. He likes those Smokey stadiums in Manchester.

I think the big question is whether 3 months is enough time for the Danish medical system to stock up on supplies of anti-depressants to cope with a Kessler defeat?

Good news if true. The best choice of opponent given the lack of availability of Wright and Hopkins and the reluctance of Taylor to fight anyone above welter.

It will be a great scalp for Joe. But the only problem is that Kessler is European and that Critics will say Joe is only beating Europeans and not the Americans. They always find excuses no matter what.

Kessler will be dismissed as the robotic European with a padded record that he is when Calzaghe wins. If he didn't have the belts I'm not sure this would be worthwhile.
