anyone who thinks spinks deserves the title must of had part of their brain removed.
he threw a billion punches to Taylor's 20 and yet taylor landed more. I mean at no point what so ever did Spinks even hurt Taylor, he threw a bunch of pointless ineffective punches that wouldnt even knockout most ppl great grandparents and ran around the ring like a ******ed track star. i mean taylor was pretty ****ty 2, but the fact is, spinks didnt do enough to be considered the new champ.
but still at the end of the day nobody cares about the fight and they shoudnt, Spinks is a ***** who doesnt want to get hurt and Taylor is in it for the money ducking his real competition..i mean they Taylor/Spinks fight made the Mayweather/Delahoya fight look like Ward/Gatti.Comment

I think the sole argument one can make for Taylor (and it is the only one) is punches landed. That argument is flawed. Compubox is a stat sample; it's has a margin of error. Watch the fifth round...Taylor gets cred for landing 14 shots and Spinks seems not to get credit for a number of body shots landed. The punches landed was statistically negligible. So what's left? Defense, Ring generalship, effective aggression...Taylor was not effective and the other two were Spinks all night.
The fight ******, but that wasn't all Spinks fault. taylor stood there for literally minutes at a time just following him in a circle biting feints.
I realize there are many who disagree, and that's fine, but I sat through this CRAPPY fight more than once to make sure mine eyes did not decieve.
They didn't.Comment

Spinks didn't run until the 12th round, and that like Winky, cost him the fight in my mind. Or at least tagged him with a loss. Spinks controlled the fight and ditance. However, Yalor started to land the more punches and the more telling blows later on. I had it 7-5 Taylor, but could understand it going two rounds either way. The fight was boring and the announcers saying it was boring didn't make it worse, they were just stating the obvious. No-one is screaming on Spinks' behalf because of how he "made" the fight, but Spinks made Taylor look horrible. Like I said, 115-113 Taylor for me, but not 117-111. Look SPinks should fight at a lower weight, preferably Travis Simms at light middleweight.Comment

What action there was....Taylor pressed it.
If Taylor wasnt moving FORWARD towards Cory the entire night...then spinks never would have landed a punch.
You can count the number of fowards steps taken by spinks on one hand.
Ring Generalship? No points for either man for ..save the BS....one guy ran, one guy followed.
Clean effective punching? I think every soul on the planet could see wich punches were more effective.
Defense? It didnt appear any was really needed. Slowly jogging backwards the entire fight doesnt count. Neither does getting hit with 50 jabs while chasing your spooked opponent. Cory had his hands raised in victory AS HE WAS STILL RUNNING AWAY JUST AS HE DID ALL NIGHT LONG.
So. Yea. CompuBox is a fun little statistic to play around with. But....it's not listed in any of the catagories for scoring a fight for some reason. Crazy I know.
You cant win a fight just by surviving it in most cases. Obviously most of Cory Spinks' wins disprove that...but I still think it holds mostly true.Comment
