BUT, you take guys of equal skill and the person fighting in their own sport will win everytime.... No way lidell beats any champion boxer in a boxing match and NO WAY pbf, RJ or nard will beat sherk or penn...

Can you really see Cro Crop or Fedor beating Klitscho or Sam Peter in a boxing match? If they can then why don't they? The fight would be a blockbuster...earning them millions of dollars like Peter and Wlad does everytime they fight. And to think that the heavyweights right now sucks. They would tire after 5 rounds and get KOed by boxers.

Ok how about middleweights?........would Pierre or Hughes ever beat PBF or Taylor in a boxing match......NO WAY!! But I can see Taylor and PBF having a big chance of winning against the best of MMA's middleweights. Remember that 90% of all the KO's in MMA fights were delivered by a punch.

                Yes.

It take too long to set up. Plus it just seems silly to argue about size of the ring, boxing gloves, what exact weight everyone (including cornermen and possible mascot) is at, who sponsors who, whose mama sits where...

I mean....it takes two to four months to train for a fight, why the hell wait five years for a match that possibly won't happen?

Show me a boxer in competition going 10 mins. without a break.

Why does everyone have to go for a KO in MMA? There are tons of guys who go for the choke or submission.

This is what I don't get. Not all striking is about the KO. The overhand strike is the most dangerous strike in MMA, not because of power, but because it's ****ing illusive. No one can predict the intentions of the punch. it could be a punch or it can set up for either a middle kick to the body or a lower 'cut to the stomach or even a single leg tackle.

The same goes for grappling. Go find Gonzaga/Cro Cop and watch how Gonzaga sets up for the kill. Gonzaga got into 'Cop's head and made him think that at most it was going to be a GnP battle. So when Gonzaga went to fake the mid kick, he was already starting to think about catching the leg and taking him down. BOOM! Goodnight turn off the lights when you leave.

The sign of a great MMA fighter is that all his moves, what ever moves they be, fit into a larger set up and if one of those moves seem to not be effective, they adapt around it.

In short, It's a big ol chess match baby!!

Besides like 2 people, everyone Eric Esch has beaten has had a losing record.

The only good fighter he's fought was 155 LBS Genki Sudo, who he lost to.
