Did Taylor punk out in front of the camera?

Larry Merchant: Jermain, what do you think of Kelly Pavlik?
Taylor: Much respect to you, you fought a great fight, MUCH respect to you. MUCH RESPECT.
Larry Merchant: Do you want to fight Pavlik
Taylor: Ummmm I wanna fight ANYONE, for the MOST MONEY.
Larry Merchant: So you're giving yourself an out?
Taylor: Yeah. I wanna fight anyone, for the most money.\

What kind of champion is that? Jermain Taylor punked himself out on national television...

I think it was weak the way he agreed with Merchant on 'giving himself an out'. that's what.

        Well he has 2 choices.

Cop to it and say, "Yup," and look like a huge *****.

        or

Repeat what he said which isn't giving a difinitive answer, but can tell people to look at the tape and suggest he never gave an answer.

Pretty much like i have said in every other thread, people wouild rather be udner the illusion that fighters fight the best because they are the best as opposed to doing it for money, Taylor told the truth and the truth hurts.

From watching him throughout the last couple of years I was surprised. That was totally out of character of him to say that.

Unfortunately, it is all about "the money" for another one of Boxing's champions.

Damned Boxing politics. Give the winner the bigger purse split. I really think that would work in boxing.

He said yeah at the end and punked out. He and his people know Pavlik won't make a huge money fight with Calzaghe available. Maybe if HBO hyped Pavlik like Miranda he would be able to draw more. Pavlik will be fighting for a vancant WBC title in the future I am sure. Calzaghe will spank Taylor and he will fight Pavlik then and only then.
