It's almost no surprise that former WBO featherweight champion Scott Harrison, 29, is in trouble once again. Harrison gives new meaning to the word loose cannon, as he and two friends pounded three men with their fist, ashtrays and broken bottles on Sunday in a brothel called the Oxigeno bar at Spain's Costa del Sol.
Harrison and both friends were arrested following the brawl, appeared before a Spanish court and released. He is now facing charges over four separate incidents in Spain and Scotland. They include drug possession, car theft, breach of the peace, and assaulting a police officer so badly that it left him blind in one eye. Harrison spent five weeks in a Spanish jail in 2006, and is said to be allegedly battling money problems, drugs, alcoholism and deep depression.
The owner of the brothel, Paco Gonzalez, told Scotland's Daily Record that Harrison and his friends were like wild animals. He also revealed that Harrison is a repeat customer at his business.
"They were like animals, savages. They were smashing bottles and glasses and punching us around the head. Scott Harrison needs locking up," Gonzalez said. "Harrison and his friends were in the bar drinking. They were merrily drunk. I recognized Scott because he has been in here many times. They got into a row with two of the customers who were behaving themselves and minding their own business.
"One of the Brits plunged an ashtray into one of the men's neck. It smashed and there was blood gushing everywhere. Another customer tried to fight them off and they started to beat him. I jumped in to try to break up the fight and they set on me. They were punching and hitting us with bottles and glasses. They smashed my face in and knocked out a front tooth. Luckily, the police arrived quickly. The three of us went to hospital. I have had stitches to my lip and I need dental treatment."

I wonder why Scotland hasn't produced a single world-class boxer. Is boxing unpopular there? England has several (Skelton, Haye, Hatton, Khan) and tiny Wales has at least one (Calzaghe). Ireland has a world-class up and comers (Lee) and Northern Ireland has one as well (Duddy). A country about the same size as Scotland, Armenia, has three top-level fighters (Darchinyan, Abraham and Vanes).
