Pavlik does not always come straight at his man. Basically you're looking at Saturday's fight and assuming Pavlik is always going to fight like that. Against Taylor most likely he'll fight at a slower pace, outbox him from the ouitside.

almost looked out on his feet..... lol... either you are or you arent

no D??? youre nuts, he was knocking down mirands left hook with his glove like a seasoned pro.... a couple right hands landed here and there but never a big left and miranda never won more than 1 exchange per round

slow hand speed??? again youre nuts... watch the left uppercut knockdown and watch how fast pavlik lets the left hook fly behind it... i cant even believe you just said this...

and finally, steward in the corner told taylor that "this is why i wish you wouldve fought miranda" thats tells you that taylor had an strong, professional informed opinion and chose to fight spinks instead.... which tells you that he was afraid of miranda ... so he is most definately at least a little worried about the guy who beat the ever living **** out of the guy he just got done avoiding
Im saying that Miranda has power but half the times he doesnt because he slaps like N'Dou and he never throws straight punches. Some of those punches still hurt Pavlik and those will be twice as worst with Taylor who has real power and throws straight punches. His hand speed was definatly slow. If you put him in with Taylor then he will look much slower and Taylor will land a bunch of combos on him.

On his D, your talking about him knocking down Miranda's left? So what? He got caught with a ton of shots in that fight and Miranda has no real skill. Taylor doesnt have alot either but he throws straight shots that will hurt this kid.

As for Taylor picking Spinks over Miranda, thats obvious but I dont think its bad. I think there team was just looking at it as he just had 3 rough fights in a row so they thought he deserved 2 softies and then fight a tough guy. I dont think they were just avoiding Miranda. Now days fans act like fighters dont deserve a break. Even Pac has had a few easy fights recently. MAB had a ton of them. Its ok to have them after you mixed in the big guns. They werent avoiding Miranda. They just though Taylor needed a couple easy fights after the 3 tough ones

Also, people talk about Taylor's opponents but Pavlik has fought a ton of guys from 154. He's fought more of them then Taylor but no one says anything about that

Either way, he's not fast enough to do that. He's not Spinks, he has a fighters mentality. Even if he boxes, he'll still stay pretty close and he'll still trade alot. Taylor will be able to land alot on this guy. He never moves his head

Im not buying Miranda's all out power. He slaps half the time and hardly ever lands clean. He lands alot of those punches grazing or on the side of the head. Thats why his power hardly ever gets the full effect.

Taylor too is flawed. You cant fully judge his power for not knocking out Spinsk or Ouma because he hardly ever hit them clean. He shook Spinks like 5 times but each time was just one punch and he could never land again. Spinks was just a bad match for him and Taylor isnt techniqal enough to get to him. On Pavlik it will be different. Pavlik is there to be hit and he doesnt move his head. Unlike Miranda, Taylor will land straight punches.

Think about Oscar destroying a big strong guy with a good chin like Mayorga but cant hurt basically a jr. WW in Floyd.

I generally agree with the poster here. Taylor is catching TOO much criticism for lackluster performances against good fighters. Sure the last 2 guys he fought were moving up in weight but they were former/current champions. Better than fighting Sergio Mora and looking good (imo). Taylor is certainly flawed but I think Pavlik has a tough night if he fights Taylor. He is available to be hit especially by a straight puncher (Miranda throws more looping punches). On the other hand Taylor has shown a propensity for resting against the ropes in the last 3 fights and that could prove disasterous against Pavlik who showed Saturday that he is deadly when he corners an opponent against the ropes. Pavlik is also flawed mostly defensively but I think his come forward style serves as a defense because guys like Taylor and Miranda have few chances to punch at full extension...the offense smothers them. I was also impressed that Pavlik actually DID exactly what he said he would do to Miranda.

Taylor doesn't even throw straight punches so how will he land them? And I am proiud to say I have been high on Pavlik for two plus years and picked him this weekend so I'm not a newcomer to this bandwagon. LOL

With the pounding that Pavlik gave Miranda it's not insane to think that he could beat Taylor. Before the fight I thought Pavlik was good, but not good enough to beat some quality guys, but his performance was excellent in so many ways. He had a gameplan and he stuck to it no matter what, showed a good chin, showed good stamina with the amount of punches he was throwing, he never seemed wild and pinpoint on his punches, and he showed good technical skill. He may be a little slow in his feet, but he makes up for in other areas.

I don't know if he would KO Taylor, but he could win. He would force Taylor to mix it up and show us what he is really made of. Taylor has been dissapointing in his last few fights and fight with Pavlik would be what the doctor ordered. He said Spinks was running from him the whole fight, well if he took on Pavlik that wouldn't be the case. A Pavlik fight would be action packed and if Taylor were to win he would get the respect he thinks and his fans think he deserves. I hope he makes the right decision and gives Pavlik his opportunity.
