    Your Overrating Pavlik

I made this thread yesterday morning after reading alot of post but Im just posting it.

Im not a big Taylor fan and I was very impressed with Pavlik last night but this is another case of a guy getting an exciting KO victory and this board goes crazy. Now all of assudden this kid can beat everyone? Now he's a 2 to 1 favorite on this board to beat Taylor? That is a complete joke.

Pavlik looked good last night but he didnt look as good as Miranda looked over hyped. Miranda is just a black Mayorga and nothing more. He fights exactly like him and basically has the same skill level. The same Mayorga who was easily beat by the Spinks guy you hate and the same Mayorga that was destroyed by Oscar in 3 rounds when Oscar couldnt even hurt a little Mayweather.

Say what you want about Taylor but Winky & Hopkins are easily top 4 P4P and he went 36 hard rounds with those 2 legends. Can Pavlik do that and still look good? He's fought 2 small guys since but those guys are still very good fighters. Dont tell me that a guy who went basically even up or better with Hopkins & Winky will just get destroyed by this new guy because you saw him KO some one demesional overhyped clown. Its a joke. For all we know Pavlik may be a joke. Dont get me wrong, he could certainly be the man but he also could be just another hyped up kid who gets famous off of one victory over another hyped up clown.

There is no way I see Pavlik beating Taylor right now. Keep thinking that just because Taylor looks flawed that he is a punk. He's not and no one will have an easy time with him. Pavlik also look very flawed. It just didnt show as much because he was in with a guy with no skill at all. Pavlik got caught a bunch of times in that fight and had no D. He almost looked out on his feet a couple ot times also and those were with Miranda's slapping punches. There powerful but Taylor will hit him with some hard shots straight down the pipe. Kid walks in with his head straight up, just begging to be countered with a hard shot. Taylor will certainly take advantage of that. He was also super slow. He looked kind of like Margarito. Throwing alot of power punches with no D and slow hand speed. His style will allow Taylor to counter with combos all day. He also looked fatigued early and got his nose busted. I think Taylor skools him.

Again, I think its also a joke that people rip Taylor for what he said in the post fight interview about the money. So what? Im glad he admitted it because every fighter thinks the same way. How many times can you name where a guy didnt take the bigger money fight? You want to get paid at your job and so do they. To me Taylor has proven that he will fight the elite guys. Also, Merchant and you guys try to make it sound like he was dodging Pavlik. He wasnt doing that. What he was trying to say that there is also 2 other big fights for him against Calzaghe & Winky. Whats wrong with those 2 guys? They have proven far more then Pavlik and are rated far higher. If anyone thinks Taylor is a punk for fighting them 2 over Pavlik then they are crazy. If anyone thinks Taylor is actually scared of Palivk then they are crazy. Look who this guys just fought? Are you insane? He's going to take the biggest money fight out of the 3. Whats wrong with that? What boxer wouldnt do it? You guys make it sound like he said that he wants to fight a bum. All of your favorite fighters always take the biggest money fight. 9 times out of 10 its not a bad thing because the bigger fights make the most money anyway. Again, Im not dissing Pavlik. He was impressive and could be a straight up killer but people jump the gun on these guys all the time and they turn into one hit wonders who never last. A boxer couldve fought Miranda last night and schooled him by boxing but no one wouldve bragged on him like there doing Pavlik. Just because Pavlik had the crazy power, we go crazy but that boxer would end up far better most of the time. Also, people talk about Taylor's opponents but Pavlik has fought a ton of guys from 154. He's fought more of them then Taylor but no one says anything about that

I picked Pavlik to KO Taylor, but it's not like picking him to KO Hagler. I respect Taylor for holding on this long, but he's a time bomb

Also, Pavlik's defense is not bad; it was the necessary tactic in this fight to come forward and throw volume. He had to be willing to eat more than usual.

Taylor is overrated as well and u can't deny that.

I would DEFINETLY pick Taylor to beat Pavlik, but it would be a GREAT fight and who knows.

I really want a superstar to emerge and if PAVLIK upsets taylor, there is another legimate superstar in boxing to succeed OSCAR DE LA HOYA.

PAVLIK has earned the chance and he IS very powerful he IS very techincally sound and he IS very very smart in the ring.

pavlik 2-1 over taylor.. crazy.. nope

whats crazy was that the idiots on this board were 3-1 for miranda to beat pavlik.. thats crazy

almost looked out on his feet..... lol... either you are or you arent

no D??? youre nuts, he was knocking down mirands left hook with his glove like a seasoned pro.... a couple right hands landed here and there but never a big left and miranda never won more than 1 exchange per round

slow hand speed??? again youre nuts... watch the left uppercut knockdown and watch how fast pavlik lets the left hook fly behind it... i cant even believe you just said this...

and finally, steward in the corner told taylor that "this is why i wish you wouldve fought miranda" thats tells you that taylor had an strong, professional informed opinion and chose to fight spinks instead.... which tells you that he was afraid of miranda ... so he is most definately at least a little worried about the guy who beat the ever living **** out of the guy he just got done avoiding

Taylor is nothing special. It is very possible for Pavlik to beat Taylor. Confidence wise they seem to be going in different directions. Taylor looked to have no confidence he wouldn't step in and fight Spinks for some reason. How will he react to someone coming into him a making a fight? He only threw punches in the center of the ring against Wright.

Taylors not even strong anymore, he can't even knock out little middle weights. And his excuse is that he couldn't catch spinks!!! Thats bs, whats he afraid of? Spinks doesn't have power, he barely landed **** in the fight.

Taylor is overrated,he gets discouraged so easily against little guys,a 6'2 power punching Pavlik would discouraged him even more, and wouldent stop punching on him,i also think Taylors power is overrated,i got Pavlik by TKO

honestly, Taylor seems like he fights just the way his opponent does. Think about it...vs. Hopkins, Hopkins doesnt throw many punches, Taylor does the same. Spinks run around and didnt really bring the fight, Taylor did the same.

but Wright came to him and was firing jabs and power shots, and Taylor came right back with strong shots, a lot of which busted Wrights guard. Now, I had Wright winning that fight slightly, but Taylor definately fought back.

this is a flaw in Taylor, but I honestly believe that if Pavlik comes forward and fights Taylor, that Taylor is going to fire right back with hard shots.

Dont get me wrong, I said from the jump that Taylor is overrated and is the most uncoordianted elite fighter in the history of the game. I always said that he's nothing compared to a prime Hopkins.

However, his size & talent can compete with nearly anyone in history when your talking about a combination of hand speed & power. That stuff will let him be in every fight no matter who he faces. Im also saying that guys like Pavlik are the best guys for Taylor to face. Someone who comes straight at him, he will be able to land much easier then guys like Spinks & Hopkins. I also dont think Taylor will ever be a smart fighter but I just dont see Pavlik as being on his level yet. Most people are basing this off of him beating another Mayorga
