If the ref had stopped it in the sixth the Miranda fans on here would be bitching about it being a rpemature stoppage. Miranda's trainer was on the ring apron for most of the 7th round ready to jump in if Miranda was getting seriously hurt. The ref was looking for and excuse to stop it after the second knockdown.

What about the spitting out the mouthpeice? It seems to be getting to be a very common occurance that a fighter who is badly hurt will spit out the mouthpeice to get an extra few seconds.

I just care about the safety of the boxer, thats all.

When I first came to this forum, I had posts that were similar to jd's. Where I thought that fights should go on until the man can't stand, but I don't think like that anymore. I kind of see that alot of boxers have hearts, but the refs sometimes stop it too late. And I don't want to see anyone dying after the fight is over.

I care about the safety of the boxer and don't need to see an athlete get seriously injured to be entertained, but I would have thought it was a good stoppage except for one thing...

There was way too much time given to Moranda after that one knockdown. I am not sure what was going on there because even before Miranda spit out his mouthpiece the ref had been giving him way too much time. If he was trying to give him all that extra time to recover then he really should have stopped the fight at that point. But I don't think that was it, I simply think it was a case of the official misjudging the proper recovery time.

You're an example why children shouldn't be allowed to watch boxing.

I think that Smoger was right in letting it go until the 7th round but probaby could've stopped it earlier before Miranda was knocked down a third time...

Anyways, I didn't see any of the post fight, I was out past my girlfriend inposed curfew but how did Miranda respond in the post fight interview? Did he appear 'punch drunk' or what? I hope that nothing beyond his beat up face, occurred..

It needed to be stopped before the 2nd knockdown or right after. Miranda was obviously completely out of it.

How was Miranda's demeanor after the fight? Was he responsive or did he appear to be punch drunk? I watched the fight but not the post fight interviews or the Taylor fight.
