King basically uses him as a warm body, and another promoter who blew through town with a bunch of bull**** left, went elsewhere and left there, all without a single show coming off.

He's been scheduled to face Otis Tisdale four times, all four shows ultimately getting scrapped without so much as notice or even a reason why (other than said promoter is obviously full of ****).

Owen may not be much in the way of a heavyweight player, but is a nice guy (and on a personal level, someone I consider a friend) and deserves a lot better.
I think that boxing fans sometimes unfairly critize boxers who have been so inactive when infact the reason why is because of doings of promoters and managers. I've heard that King has passed over some 6 digit paydays for his fighter Mike Mollo so that he can 'use' Mike when he needs him.
Actually, I think that King was going to feed Mollo to Valuev before he lost.

Oliver Mccall. Now there's a name you don't hear to often. Mccall actually has been busy fighting four times last year, once this year, and has a scheduled bout with SSS in June. The guy seems like he's 'flying under the radar screen' because you don't hear his name too often these day even though he's an active fighter with a decent record.

Beck signed with Don King and got his chance. King can get you the fights but he can't win them for you.
