Boxers shouldn't wait a long time after they are defeated to fight again. The lack of activity will cause them to lose their sharpness. Byrd waited a year, and Ruiz and Lyakhovich aren't scheduled yet. And Owen Beck has been inactive for almost a year.

Who cares about Beck and Monte Barrett for that matter? There's plenty of other hw's in the division who worth watching and fight more than once a year. I mean how can you be a fan when your fighter fights so infrequently?

i'm just saying the guy had potential and i'm wondering if he can make a good comeback after getting beat by Valuev.

In addition to deteriorating into an opponent, Owen's also had a lot of issues outside of the ring. Chief among them, promoters failing to come through on multiple promises made to keep him active. King basically uses him as a warm body, and another promoter who blew through town with a bunch of bull**** left, went elsewhere and left there, all without a single show coming off.

He's been scheduled to face Otis Tisdale four times, all four shows ultimately getting scrapped without so much as notice or even a reason why (other than said promoter is obviously full of ****).

Owen may not be much in the way of a heavyweight player, but is a nice guy (and on a personal level, someone I consider a friend) and deserves a lot better.

as a King fighter we all know he'll be back. and I know I'll get flamed for saying this, but Oliver McCall needs to fight more. I seriously think he has a shot at winning any of titles on the right night.
