Where top boxers might only have 3-4 fights versus other top guys in there entire career in MMA we have seen the top guys periodically fight each other. Pride had tournaments such as bushido and UFC has also exposed there champs to dangerous competition.

I love boxing and watch it religiously but we can all count how many REAL fights there are a year just using our fingers. Hatton vs Urango was a joke no real competition so was Cotto vs Malignagi and Urkal. Same could be said for PBF vs Mitchel, Gatti and Baldomir (Zab was a legit threat). Mean while Vanderlie has fought Cro-cop, rampage, Sakuraba, Henderson.....etc etc.

Its like MMA is going old school boxing with all the top guys fighting each other. Once again I love boxing but MMA keeps me entertained to.
PBF vs Mitchel was somewhat worthwhile imho... mitchel was ex champ good speed great prep fight to judah bigger man in bigger weight class

By the way, I don't like all this crap about the top guys always fighting each other in MMA and never fighting each other in boxing. Ortiz versus Shamrock and Hughes versus Gracie are two examples of fights that were put together and were known to be absolute mismatches the moment they were signed.

Also the UFC is definately not immune to doing showcase fights for its top guys. The card that had Cro Cop's first fight was just 3 showcase fights for Cro Cop, and for Hughes and Franklin in their comeback fights. Franklin versus Nate Quarry is another example of a fight that definately should not have been put together and was ultimately a showcase fight for Franklin.

Obviously since I know all of this you can tell that I am a UFC fan as well as a boxing fan. I like MMA, they are good tough athletes. I will always prefer boxing because it is a lot more exciting and the athletes are a lot better in my opinion. I'm not saying that a boxer could beat an MMA fighter in an MMA match, but boxers as a whole are much better schooled at their craft, are faster, and are more explosive.

UFC has only very very recently acquired Pride. There is no denying that certain fighters are always groomed and protected more than others but if you look at MMA as a whole you'll see my point. The best MMA fighters were in the former Pride. Pride hosted numerous tournaments in all weight classes including an open weight class tournament in which vanderlie was the only non-heavy weight to make it to the semi-finals.

Pride had the best fighters and the best fighters fought in the pride tournaments. There isn't any dream matchup that Pride didn't give us. MMA has tremendous entertainment value and at the highest levels a tremendous amount of skill also.

                chuck liddel recognises boxing

Chuck liddel talks about an mma trying to box.

"He [tito ortiz] opened his mouth and said he wanted this boxing match but I don't think he really thought about it and the consequences," Liddell said. "It's a lose-lose for him. If you beat up Dana, so what? You beat up a promoter. Big deal. Heaven forbid if Dana beat him up. That would have killed him.

"Tito was saying, 'Dana's almost a pro boxer' and he said he didn't want to get hurt. The whole thing was ******, and Tito opened his mouth before he thought about it. They're different sports and boxing's not Tito's thing. Dana's not bad. He's not ‘almost a pro,' but he's not bad and I think Tito realized nothing good was in it for him."
