The Development of a Iron CHIN?

Is it true in order to train your chin to be strong you must allow clean shots on your chin during training with your hands behind your back?

Or is it something you cannot develop and are just born with a good chin?

Other believe that a having a "chin" is a product of one's determination.

Mayweather's kneck was like 5 inches thicker for his fight with DLH, and he walked through some HEAVY blows

It could probably be other factors too. Sugar Ray Leonard didn't have a thick neck or traps, but he took big shots from guys like Thomas Hearns, Roberto Duran, and Hagler without being knocked down (exception Leonard-Hearns II). Erik Morales was known for his chin and he didn't exactly have the physique described in Wiki.

I believe Teddy Atlas said it best: "Like a wall of concrete, you can keep chipping it away and eventually it will break"

the difference with morales was he might of looked skinny but his jaw was solid and plus he had soemthing that helped him he outweighed his opponent by many pounds.

Gaining even an inch around the neck would be awesome but 5 inches just like that...ok

My trainer says its in the neck strength. He makes sure all the fighters (both mma and boxing) work to strengthen their neck muscles. He would never advocate letting someone tee off on you, thats ridiculous. I do think some of the ability to take a punch is God-given.

well how come in muay thai they tell the fighters to toughen up the shins bones and fists by gently hitting a tree over and over and slowly increasing the intensity as weeks go by.
