The Speed of the Punch Determines the Power behind it?

    Is this true or no?

Because I seen some guys who dont have fast hands but hit hard as hell.

And I seen some guys who throw super fast punches but couldnt even hurt a guy.

    momentum = mass X velocity

So yes, speed does give a punch more impact but speed doesn't = power.

Plus, faster punches are harder to see & anticipate, catching you unaware. The most effective punches are the ones you don't see coming.

No, I think it depends a lot on your bone density. Meldrik Taylor had super fast hands and didn't have much pop in his punch. Zab has heavier bone density and speed so his punch has a lot of pop.

Trinidad, not much muscle mass but he could knock you the **** out with one punch. Two guys I will use as an example about the same height, Mayweather and JL Castillo. Mayweather has more speed and muscle mass but Castillo definitely hits harder.

      Just my opinion.

It's all about how much bodyweight is transmitted to the target in combination with how fast this is delivered

I think the bone density thing is right, cause manny pacquiao has some heavy and hard bones according to the people who trained with him.

Also thats a good point because floyd jr has super fast hands but his jab didnt even push oscars face back but oscar jab was snapping floyds head back.

but i also seen some guys who look built like ebner cherry the guy looks yoked but he doesnt hit hard but he is fast.

Floyd was probably outweight by Oscar by 15-20 pounds.

Thats why floyd was the faster man, if Floyd came in at Oscar's exact weight. We would probably have a better fight instead of the smalle guy running around the ring. Because if he was Oscar's weight, then Oscar would have caught up to him. Exactly why this ppv was ****** as hell, floyd could even make 154. What made people think he was going to put on a great performance when he comes in weighing like 148... I hate floyd, and he sucks and the rules should be stricter and not allow tiny guys to get in the ring with big guys. The tiny guy can get hurt, but floyd showed his speed by running.

Speed ??? Ask Foreman if you need speed to knock someone out.

                    Theoretically
impact force = mass X velocity squared

Meaning that increasing the speed of the punch does more to increase the impact force than increasing the mass (or hardness) of the punch. That's what a tae Kwon Do guy will have you believe. In reality the amount of force that is produced by a punch is determined by the amount of mass that can be transferred from muscle power, bodyweight in motion and leverage.

Speed helps the punch to land though.
