CanadaJoe, No offense dude but your making yourself look ******, Hatton is fighting a fighter who is smaller than him, mayweather was fighting a fighter who outweighed him by 20 pounds and was much bigger, the same fighter who was hanging with bernard hopkins , and hopkins is a light heavtweight champion right now
Is Oscar De La Hoya Past His Prime?

Castillo is actually slightly bigger than Hatton, taller with a greater reach, and he has more problems making 140 than Hatton! DLH wasn't "20 pounds heavier", they both weighed in at just under 154, remember? And Castillo is a year younger than DLH. And as far as who is past his prime, take a look at the poll results here...Last edited by Steelhammer86; 07-18-2007, 07:45 AM.Comment

This thread is ***in ******. he was at his best when he was fighting floyd. Its just like any other PBF fight. PBF couldn't be hit. Zab who is faster then DLH always had problems hitting PBF. Like OMG! didn't u see how ripped DLH was. We all know he messes up in his biggest fights. So NO he is not past his prime!!Comment

Oscar is not past his prime which is why he beat pbf and was able to pick off his shots for most of the fight. His stamina was a little off near the end, but he's always had that problem.
BTW, Floyd had the reach advantage, I would take that ever day over height.Comment

Of course he's past his prime, but that doesn't mean he doesn't have any fights left in him. He can still be exciting in the ring (when he isn't forced to chase someone at a dead run for 12 rounds), and still has plenty good handspeed and power, and his ring-smarts and knowledge just get better as he gets older.Comment

I would say De La Hoya is past his prime...but really thats not saying much. Oscar was arguably the best 154lber in the sport at the time after Winky left, because most people thought he beat Mosley the 2nd time around, despite being more in his prime fighting Mosley the first time, where he definately lost a close and exciting fight. So he certainly aint anywhere close to being shot or anything...
And its easy to say, "oh this guy is past his prime, he woulda whooped the other guy if he was younger", but really its not as simple as that. A younger De La Hoya arguably lost to Ike, an older Pernell and Mosley at his lighter weights. Bit more to consider if you think about it.
