Next month Curtis Stevens out of Brooklyn, NY wil match up with 2004 U.S. Olympian Andre Dirrell in what I think is a fight that won't get very much notice but one that pits two very very promising former amateurs STARS. Unusual that either of them are taking this fight so early in their careers..... you guys may not know much about either guy but believe me it is rare to see two young guys with skills and potential matching up like this in a fight that probably isnt paying a ton of money an dis not for a title, etc. Good GOOD fight with a VERY GOOD contrast in styles.

I've seen Curtis fight before. He's a short super middleweight but he's built like a tank -
yea i noticed this fight too. I think its an HBO BAD undercard or something.
Anyway, i think it'll be a great fight. I like both guys, but direll just seems to be on his way to superstardom, and a guy like curtis stevens, who will be a very good fighter later in his career, just won match up.Comment

When the other 'Chin Checker' stepped up his competition it did not go too well for him. And unlike Codrington, Stevens has actually lost to one his over-matched opponents. I'd bet on Dirrell myself.Comment

Curtis avenged his loss, though and like I say he is a GOOD hitter and has a ton of tenacity. Andre can really box, though. Great contrast here.Comment

I haven't watched Dirrell in a year or so, but I hope he has changed up his style a bit. He always seemed like he was only trying hard enough to get through the night and move on. Hopefully he is more serious now because he's got a ton of potential.Comment
