I believe Floyd won every round convincingly. People (and judges are included in this category) tend to forget that the criteria for judging a fight is EFFECTIVE aggression. See that? EFFECTIVE. The other 3 categories are defense, clean punching, and ring generalship. Oscar landed less shots than Floyd and threw a lot more. This means that his aggression was NOT effective, and what makes a fighter's aggression uneffective is the defensive skills of the other. This means that even in rounds that they landed about the same number of punches, they have to go to Floyd because HE MADE OSCAR MISS. This means his defense was dictating the course of the fight, and this gives him point in the "ring generalship" category.
Another thing Oscar fans say is that he was pressing the action by moving forward, while Floyd was retreading. Floyd moves in every direction to get his opponents off guard and to make himself a harder target to hit, and this fight displayed this brilliantly. Oscar says he doesn't know what was wrong with his jab and people wonder why he didn't throw it that much, well, he didn't use it much because HE WAS MISSING and it is catastophric to a fighter's ego and pride (especially one of Oscar's stature) to be missing punches. They get so discouraged that they starts throwing less, and selecting their shots more carefully to make sure that they land. Another factor why he threw less is because he was tired, he was visibly tired after the 4th round because Floyd was making him move around so much and throw many punches in hopes of catching him.
Another thing those in favor of Oscar say was how he handled the fight when Floyd went to the ropes. Notice I said WHEN FLOYD WENT TO THE ROPES, not "when Oscar took Floyd to the ropes". If anyone has seen Mayweather fight before, they know he goes to the ropes and corners purposedly in order to make fighters miss. Oscars punches when Floyd was cornered were LAUGHABLE. They were slow, weak, telegraphed, and not at all crisp, and caused absolutely NO damage.
Like Max Kellerman said, this was a virtuoso performance by Floyd. People said Floyd would be slower at this weight, he wasn't. They said when Oscar hit him flush he'd get hurt, he wasn't. Some even said all it would take to knock him down would be ONE Oscar left hook - LMFAO. They also said the smaller ring would negate Floyd's movement and the 10 oz. gloves would decrease his handspeed. Nothing that those rooting for Oscar predicted came true. What I saw was the Baldomir all over again, but with a slightly more accurate opponent. Baldomir landed 12% of his shots and Oscar landed 21% - hardly a major difference. If Floyd's opponent on May 5th was not named Oscar de la Hoya, everyone would have scored this a shutout as well.
