I don't think anybody expected a Castillo/Corrales in this fight. By the way who writes these articles? Journalist usually don't write about how fights were scored wrong unless it was a lopsided fight and a bad decision. A SD in a close fight is not bad scoring

Aggression isn't important, EFFECTIVE AGGRESSION is. Huge difference, one Oscar did on Saturday, one he did not.

Pushing a guy into a corner and swinging widly hoping to hit isn't effective, it's Ricardo Mayorga. That's all Oscar was on Saturday was a clean version of Mayorga. He came forward, pushed, bullrushed, tried to KO Floyd, rinse repeat.

And incase you didn't see, I think Floyd came closer to putting Oscar down in the 5th than Oscar did at any point in the fight. Granted, neither guy was close, but in terms of damaging punches, Floyd landed more than enough straight rights to hurt.

....My two cents on this fight as I haven't commented yet. It was a very close fight and I may have had Oscar winning a close decision due to the fact that he pressed the action and was the aggresor. Mayweather landed the cleaner shots but Oscar definitely got to Mayweather as well. It was not a robbery as I know some are saying on these boards. For Mayweather to struggle with an aging and past his prime Oscar, it tells me that Floyd does not belong on any all time list. BTW, what was up with the ****ty compubox numbers that were innacurate as hell?

I deal with this one at a time. When your the heavier puncher, by FAR. Landing volumes of punches landing the harder punches and dictating where the fight the is fought IS effective agression.

When your doing damage and in some cases HURTING YOUR OPPONENT, that IS effective agression. There's also the issue of outworking your opponent asside from purely effective agression.

Ricardo Mayorga isn't really a pressure fighter in the fights I've seen him, even in his finest moments against Vernon Forest, he's an agressive fighter.

                    3rd.

For most people the most effective tactic to use against Floyd Mayweather is pressuring him, roughing him, throwing flurries all about his body and arms.

I'm not really a huge fan of either of these fighters.
