Gloves were meant to protect a fighter's hands, not to protect for defense.

Take MMA, gloves are there to protect hands, but when it comes to blocking, not so much.

"Boxing" was part of the "Art" of Fighting. Soldiers learned how to box and they were not going into battle with big-puffy gloves. Understand?


Take a Roman soldier for example:
He was taught how to use a shield for protection, much like a boxer uses his gloves (in today's version), but a soldier also had to learn and be good enough to fight without his shield.


I just think it is unfair to fans that want to see action packed fights that have to put up with constant punching of gloves
