I find it ridiculous that Gayweather is retiring.Plz Floyd, save it.In order to be one of the greatest of all time, u need to beat more A and B grade fighters.Take fights with guys like Mosley, Margarito and maybe a possible match with Winky Wright if u dare.Beating an over the hill De La Hoya who fades early too often in last rounds is far from u being the greatest.
A pressure fighter would beat Floyd

If Floyd can beat DLH at 154 he would have no problem with Hatton or Cotto. Hatton and Cotto are much easier to hit and both are slower.
The only problem Floyd would have against those two is a lack of motivation after spending his soul to beat a much better fighter.Comment

Hatton and Cotto are hungrier fighters and dont fade like DLH.DLH needs to retire.I think he was great when he was coming up but this guy has to be the most overrated fighter of this decade going back to the 90s.Comment

Castillo's speed is equal or less than Cotto so I don't think it matters when we're talking about a pressure fighter that is constantly harrasing Floyd. If you wait for him and stand in front of him he'll pick you apart but if you are constantly in his face that neglects his speed advantage.Comment

Floyd's main weapon isn't just his hand speed, it's how fast he is on his feet as well. Hatton couldn't match him for handspeed, but he does have fast feet, so I think Hatton would do a better job than even Castillo. Of course Floyd is a remarkably clever fighter, so it might count for nothing. Cotto I can't help feel is too slow on his feet to trouble Floyd for long enough. I think he's great to watch but I don't think he has the handspeed or the footspeed to trap Mayweather on the ropes.Comment

I agree with you fighting Mosely and Wright would help out his legacy big time if he were to beat those guys. As for Margarito that would be a different story. Margarito is slow and predictable and I could see Floyd beating him by UD and quite possibly shutout.I find it ridiculous that Gayweather is retiring.Plz Floyd, save it.In order to be one of the greatest of all time, u need to beat more A and B grade fighters.Take fights with guys like Mosley, Margarito and maybe a possible match with Winky Wright if u dare.Beating an over the hill De La Hoya who fades early too often in last rounds is far from u being the greatest.Comment

all i read from many of you people is excuses and false hope and dreams. many of you guys are so smitten with a mayweather lost, that it eats you alive and you guys stray away from the truth. cotto can beat floyd this, hatton can beat floyd that, shane can beat floyd, and all of this is bull****. thwy would all lose to floyd in impressive fashion. floyd would eat cotto, hatton, and especially mosley who throws wild punches and floyd would counter him all night. hatton and cotto don't belong in the ring with floyd jr. they would be destroyed.Comment

Floyd had a hurt hand and torn rotator cuff. Regardless of his controversial decision in the first fight, he won the rematch definitively.
As for the thread topic, I agree with your logic to a degree, however I feel Mayweather would beat both Hatton and Cotto. I've watched Hatton many times and have been consistently unimpressed by his boxing style, skill and technique as well as ring intelligence. He's a crowd pleaser though and great to watch, certainly an entertaining fighter. He reminds me a bit of Arturo Gatti; more of a fighter than a boxer. I think Floyd's speed, technique and ring intelligence would frustrate Hatton and Floyd's occasional jabs and quick hooks would be more than enough to win on points. Hatton isn't very hard to hit either. He's hard to knock down, but his defense is porous.
As for Cotto, I feel his power and discipline could be a factor. He fights with confidence and throws effective power punches with a decent balance of offense and defense. He could potentially give Mayweather trouble, or at least more than Hatton. But in my opinion Mayweather is the more pollished fighter. Looking back on the Corley fights Cotto had a slight bit of trouble whereas Mayweather seemingly dominated from start to finish. Cotto has what Mayweather lacks, however -- Knockout potential. Mayweather could be cruising on points, but if he lets one clean punch slide in it could cost him...Comment

Lets wait till June 9th,First of all big props to Floyd for stepping into a division that is way out of his natural weight. He won the fight, no doubt.
Now, Cotto or Hatton can beat Floyd by constantly applying pressure and ripping body shots when Floyd uses his "turn the body away" defense. DLH could have beat Floyd with his left jab alone but he stopped using it.
I have no doubt Cotto can beat Floyd, he would put the pressure on and would hurt him to the body before going to the head.
Lol,
He cant even handle ricardo Torres,
Let alone Floyd Mayweather.Comment
